Nov. 5, MGM Grand in Las Vegas

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

I put in the other thread that if you go by the Box Office at the back there at the arena you will more than likely find people selling extra tkts. There always is, and I have often sold extra tkts at face value there. And at the Mandalay. I have asked them if it is ok before I have stood there and sold them, and they always said it was ok if they were face value only, and no security ever bothered me or any one else sellling. Since we are seeing so many on Ebay and brokers sites, I would think there will be people selling back there before the show. Probably even earlier in the day before each show also.

hmm, yeah, that's not really so true.

in fact, i'd say room break ins are pretty rare.

most of the hotels have security stationed in front of the elevators. you can't even get upstairs without showing your key.

no purses! The ladies have to leave it in the car or the room. I wouldn't leave my purse in my hotel room. The last time I was at the MGM, a thief tried to enter my room, with me in it, he had a plastic card, but my deadbolt prevented it, I thought well maybe he's that stupid refrigerator person, but they don't have those in the rooms there, and I saw him running because I yelled and opened the door, he had on a suit and he was carrying a suitcase...good ploy. It is a common problem there, having your rooms broken into, so take nothing you can't live without, and leave nothing in that room you can't live without either. They are very smart to wear a suit, carry a suitcase (put the stuff they steal into it, and they look like a hotel guest), and it was 6:30 p.m., perfect time, few people are in their rooms at 6:30 p.m. they're out at dinner or something. So don't leave your purse in your room!

I've never heard of something like the ploy mentioned above. I have however heard of people trying to get into the wrong room. Or the front desk gives the wrong keycard...and the MGM is confusing anyway witht he different floors and towers. But hotels especially the high scale properties are patrolled by security both in uniform AND plainclothes. A serviceperson would not attempt to enter a hotel room without first knocking, or without being escorted with a hotel employee (maintenance). I also would not leave valuables out in the open in a hotel room. I have done a lot of travelling in my life and have not yet had anything stolen from my room luggage, etc. Maybe I am one of the lucky ones, I don't know. It's just common sense to always be safe and take extra care to lock up and be aware in unfamiliar surroundings, especially travelling alone.

I'm sure they're legit. Ebay is pretty safe..I've bought tix many times with no problems. Those are fan club tix too (I have fan tix for the Fri. show but don't know if MGM will organize a special line or not)

Be prepared for the price to go way up, though. Still 4 hrs. left on the auction. They may go as high as $900 for the pair

when i went to pick up my tickets the other day at the box office, i asked the girl about a ticket drop. i was trying to get any info i could, but she really couldn't answer much. i mostly wanted info on what time she thought it might happen.

she told me she didn't think there would be a ticket drop because the show was all sold out. so i explained to her that there have been plenty of ticket drops for plenty of sold-out shows at plenty of arenas on this tour.

but she wasn't buyin' it. i asked her like, five times, but she wouldn't crack.

so i guess we'll just have to wait and see.

sorry guys, i tried. but she was too tough.

I know, I kinda freaking out about it.:yikes:

i can't figure out where else to ask this

those parties that are happening on friday and saturday night, the ones at the pub, with JT playing, can you pay at the door or do you have to reserve in advance? and if you can pay at the door, anyone have any idea how late the pub is open or how late the party goes?

most of the hotels have security stationed in front of the elevators. you can't even get upstairs without showing your key.

When I was just at the Mandalay no one ever asked to see our keys. Same when I was just at the MGM, and the Luxor. I remember years ago they did that, but I haven't seen that in a long, long time. Actually we had a big thread about rooms being robbed on LVRJ boards, some people lost everything, they went to the pool, they came back and had nothing left in their rooms, they were left in their swim trunks and the hotel wouldn't help them at all. The MGM security went looking for the man when I reported it, they were well aware of even who he was, they said there are quite a few. As far as patroling the floors, lol, I was there during Spring Break and it was like being in hell with drunken frat boys with drunken parties, no one did a thing, they're money to them.

Besides any self-respecting thief has a whole bunch of room cards, which is exactly how they get into the rooms, so asking to see that is a waste of time. I always give mine to my friend because she uses them to park there in the valet, when its crowed on the weekends they only let hotel guests park in the valet.

I have however heard of people trying to get into the wrong room.

I did that once at the MGM! The guy opened the door and said "what are you doing?" My friend and I said "what are you doing in our room!" Then we looked, it was the wrong floor, we got off the elevator at the floor under us, and we all started laughing, the man us, we just fell over laughing, and he and his room mate said "whatever you're drinking, we want some."

Here's to hoping Saturday in Vegas will be my chance to be in the Ellipse! 3 shows of GA and no luck yet. And my buddy who's going with me hasn't gotten scanned in yet, and he's been to at least as many shows.

One of us has got to get lucky soon, right?

Marietta is really sick with flu but should be ok in a day or so.

BG Thanks SOOOO much for trying to get info from the box office about ticket drops. You were right in that other venues with sold out shows have been dropping tix, so I hope Vegas does too.

Eh, 4th times the charm, right? Good luck..hope you get in! I'm trying not to get worked up about where I might wind up. I want to relax and enjoy myself but it's hard not to think about getting a prime spot. I've got 2 shots, myself. Hope to see everyone there!

maybe you should offer a little extra "incintive" to get inside.

i know of a person who thinks they can buy their way in.
they even claim to have done it before....

:shifty:

lol, Zumanity! Well, I've been known to throw a 20 at the valet parkers on concert nights and such. I never thought about schtupping (sp? ) the ellipse scanners. :hmm:

*note to self* load cargo pants with ample green before show

does anybody know (it's probably been written many times, but I can't find it), if you get a GA tkt the day before or day of the show, do they have a chance of getting in the ellipse as well? Thanks.

Thats an excellent idea, bakish to the ellipse scanner, a $20 discreetly under your tkt, only it would probably require more like a $50.

Parties, what parties??

Ok, so my eyes see word of a bunch of parties during the weekend of the Las Vegas shows. I won't be there for the Nov. 3rd party, as we're flying in on Friday afternoon.

My question: Where are y'all going after the Nov. 5th show? I have plans Sat. evening (boyfriend taking me to dinner prior to show - this weekend is my belated birthday gift!), but we're free pretty much any other time during that whole weekend.

Thanks!!

Should we create a gathering somewhere after the Nov. 5th show, then? Anyone? Where should we meet? I'm new here, but I'm not new to the internet.

Is Macayo's still there on the walk? Maybe it's a diff. Mexican restaurant, but I remember the margaritas! I know I'll be ready after the show.

who here is planning on lining up early despite the rules posted a couple of pages ago??

I plan on being near where the line will be several hours before, just in case we are allowed to line up earlier.
I guess I can just walk around in big circles until the start of the offical line up, so I'm not "loitering".
