Here is where ATYCLB was still charting in week 77/78:

Ireland #28
Canada #50
United States #65
Netherlands #90

This week the number of countries where ATYCLB is still charting is now down to four. But, In Ireland, the album rises from #34 to #28 in week 78. This probably due to media news leading up to the Hot Press awards in Ireland. It remains to be seen what effect U2s wins at this award show, the last for awards relating to ATYCLB, will have on the albums sales in Ireland and perhaps some other European countries.

In the USA, sales for the week were 14,259. Total sales in the USA now stand at 3,814,101. Global sales for the week are estimated at 17,387(14,259 from USA). ATYCLB worldwide total now stand at 10,815,603!

Hello,

Well, it has happened *snif*. After 76 consecutive chart weeks (78 actual weeks) ATYCLB has dropped out of the Top 100. *snifsnif*

NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

The last few weeks the album was struggling in the danger zone and this week it could not resist the 12 (re)entries. DAMMIT!

Well, looks like there will only be 3 countries where ATYCLB is still charted for later this week. Canada, USA, Ireland. But I wonder if the HOT PRESS Awards will have any effect in the Netherlands? 12 re entries is a lot and won't last. It will probably take the next few weeks to determine if ATYCLB is gone for good from the Dutch charts.

Luckily with the American charts, there are 200 positions tracked. Then after that, the top 50 of the Catalog albums is printed in Billboard magazine every week, plus, if Dr. Who gets Melissa's info, the top 200 of the Catalog chart is known. So at least in the USA, you'll be able to track the albums progress for a lot longer. I predict after a few weeks, will be down to just the US and Irish album charts.

Unfortunately, the HOT PRESS Awards never had any effect on the Dutch charts. Ireland is a whole different country and as such their award ceremonies aren't covered very much (apart from a mention that U2 won three awards). And although 12 entries (new and re-entries combined) is quite a lot, it is not exceptional for the Netherlands. But as you say, we'll have to see in the coming weeks if ATYCLB can bounce back. Hell, The Best Of 1980-1990 has had 10 chart runs, so there's still hope for ATYCLB.

C ya!

ATYCLB drops 18 (!) spots this week, from #65 to #83, on the U.S. Billboard chart. With the album dropping 28 places in the last two weeks, it is now questionable if ATYCLB will even survive in the Top 100 for 80 weeks.

Melissa just sent me the SoundScan data for last week today (May 6th). So now I can provide exact numbers. My estimate was happily, just a tiny bit low.

Four weeks ago, ATYCLB sold 29,292 copies. Three weeks ago, although the album remained virtually at the same position on the charts, it sold 22,108 copies. Two weeks back, according to SoundScan, ATYCLB sold 17,606 copies. Last week, ATYCLB sold 14,259 copies. This week, ranking at #83, ATCYLB sold 12,837 copies.

This is not a big drop in sales, despite the large drop in chart position. However, this week is the lowest weekly sales for ATYCLB since its release. The album's previous low was 13,000 copies, which it dubiously achieved last summer.

United States

The first 78 weeks for ATYCLB on the U.S. Billboard charts are:

3-5-12-22-23-24-20(1xP)-18-22-16
19-19(2xP)-25-33-37-35-11(3xGrammy)-15-25-31
38-40-42-45-45-48-50-48-50-58
60-53-50-66-74-82-81-89-88-99
105-106-108-104-78-66-53-50-57-55
54-58(3xP)-62-67-80-77-78-76-69-71
74-58-39-56-61-66-25(SBowl)-26-28-10(4xGrammy)
17-25-37-47-48-55-65-83

"POP" was out of the Top 100 after 19 weeks and "Zooropa" was out of the Top 100 after 31 weeks. ATYCLB fell out of the Top 100 after 40 weeks, however, it has now returned for an additional 34 weeks. ATYCLB has enjoyed *two* runs in the U.S. Top 100 that were longer than the amount of time "Zooropa" and "POP" spent there combined! That alone tells us how successful this album is. ATYCLB has spent 74 out of 78 total weeks in the U.S. Top 100; 30 weeks in the U.S. Top 40; and 3 weeks in the U.S. Top 10. What's impressive is that the elusive third week in the U.S. Top 10 came 70 weeks after the album was released.

Approximate weekly sales for the first 78 weeks of ATYCLB are (rounded to nearest thousand):

428,000 + 176,000 + 119,000 + 125,000 + 100,000 + 113,000 + 154,000 + 259,000 + 108,000 + 66,000 + 59,000 + 57,000+ 47,000 + 44,000 + 41,000 + 49,000 + 85,000 + 74,000 + 54,000 + 48,000 + 43,000 + 39,000 + 37,000 + 39,000 + 30,000 + 29,000 + 26,000 + 29,000 + 25,000 + 24,000 + 27,000 + 30,000 + 31,000 + 24,000 + 22,000 + 18,000 + 19,000 + 17,000 + 17,000 + 15,000 + 14,000 + 14,000 + 13,000 + 13,000 + 16,000 + 19,000 + 21,000 + 23,000 + 22,000 + 22,000 + 24,000 + 25,000 + 24,000 + 23,000 + 21,000 + 28,000 + 28,000 + 30,000 + 46,000 + 72,000 + 42,000 + 28,000 + 26,000 + 19,000 + 20,000 + 19,000 + 46,000 + 53,000 + 36,000 + 81,000 + 56,000 + 40,000 + 32,000 + 29,000 + 22,000 + 18,000 + 14,000 + 13,000

Exact U.S. SoundScan sales are: 3,826,938 copies (note that the sum of the weekly estimates is off from the exact total due to rounding). The album is now less than 175,000 copies from the 4x Platinum mark in the U.S.

Despite the huge drop in USA chart position, in Canada, ATYCLB remains at #50 for a second week. I'll probably only have three countries to report on this Sunday though.
