Hits, 3rd Week

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
i think we shouldn't worry about jay-z/linkin park: their album is gonna suffer a huge drop this week, no question about that ...i definitely believe U2 will be #2 or #3 (it all depends on eminem's performance)

even worse now still number 5 with 163,359 and 72.15% in

i'd see it in a different way: ATYCLB sold about 120k copies in its 3rd week (and was out of the op 10 by that week)...this one is selling 40k more with 72% and is still struggling for #2 (competitors are not that far and it's definitely gonna be a close call): not bad

U2 could finish the week dead last, for all I care. But this week, there's ONE thing that could truly disgust me. What is it, you ask? Well, who is right behind U2 in the pack? You guessed it, Lindsay Lohan. :|

If Lohan beats U2 in their 3rd week on the charts, the country will officially be headed for hell.

That's all I have to say.

In its 3rd week, HTDAAB has only sold 163,359 with 72.15% in.
U2 should retire right now....

Are you kidding? Most bands could only dream of figures like that. Look at U2's present competition - rap and pop.

Now with 83.37% in, there's been a few changes:

-- 1 LUDACRIS DEF JAM/IDJ 294,676 sold
-- 2 LINDSAY LOHAN CASABLANCA/UNIVERSAL 240,929
3 3 EMINEM SHADY/INTERSCOPE 231,879
2 4 U2 INTERSCOPE 221,664 sold "HOW TO DISMANTLE AN ATOMIC BOMB"
8 5 NOW THAT WHAT I CALL MUSIC! V.17 CAPITOL 218,970 sold
7 6 SHANIA TWAIN MERCURY NASHVILLE 206,954 sold
9 7 DESTINY'S CHILD COLUMBIA/CRG 187,461 sold

U2's had a big jump in sales, not necessarily in position, but the sales are great :D. Lindsay Lohan has also had a massive jump all the way up to No. 2... hopefully U2 can also have another jump in the next 17 percent. :)

OK, we're on the last stretch!

With 83.37% in:

3 3 EMINEM ENCORE 231,879

8 5 NOW THAT WHAT I CALL MUSIC! V.17 218,970

It's still interesting for the #2 spot (although I think U2 will not be able to keep up with Eminem and Lindsay Lohan). It's also remarkable how much Ludacris is gaining. After 63% he had less than 200,000 copies, now he has almost 300,000 and maybe that number of 400,000 wasn't too far-fetched after all...

U2 is doing excellent with this album I dont understand what you people are talking about.

Over 230 thousand this week will be great and more then I expected even.

This album is selling much metter then I could have anticipated. It will consistently sell 200,000+ copies for the forseeable future.

Maybe I am crazy to think this, but I feel that ABOY has the potential to be really big. It has all the elements that people like and is a song that can be played on Rock, Top 40, Alternative, AA radio.

just 3k copies from eminem...we should expect official soundscan data: it could be even #2 (last week hdd reported 272k while soundscan reported 288k: could the difference be caused by i-tunes and digital download? :hmm: ...soundscan tracks i-tunes while we don't know if hdd does...)

Is soundscan better than hits?

but if this is true, than it's comparable with the first seven weeks of ATYCLB...

actually soundscan numbers could be either better or worse...experience says that the difference could be as high as +-5%: tomorrow we will know :)

 Fab news for the boys!

What do we think accounts for the increase (albeit small) in sales this week? Xmas` fast approach?

Perhaps ABOY is getting more airplay as well...

In my opinion, next week could be really big as people do last minute holiday shopping and when they can't figue out what to get, they buy music.
