Yeah that's always been one of my favorite Interpol tracks. And I also agree Antics is overrated. The first half has great tracks but it tails off towards the end and it isn't as cohesive as the debut.

Antics is easily better for me than the next two. The s/t is a little on the boring side and OLTA is just a mixed bag.

TOTBL has recently become one of my favorite albums, so no, Antics definitely is nowhere near that level, but it's a solid entry into that post-punk revival of the mid-2000s.

TOTBL outtakes and b-sides are also better than most of what came afterwards. Specialist is in my top 5. Song Seven is a great track as well.

For an album that is essentially a best-of of all of the songs they made since their formation in 1998, it sounds amazingly cohesive.

Yeah, I definitely enjoyed my completist Interpol phase when I listened through all their early EPs.

Our Love to Admire really does feel like a mixed bag. For me, it's the Interpol-by-numbers tracks such as Scale and All Fired Up that detract from it.

I adore the final track on the self-titled, The Undoing.

It's worth listening to the other two, not for the merits of a complete album experience but for the presence of some great individual tracks.

I'm really bad about remembering their songs by track title, but I know that I love Obstacle 1, Narc and Lights. But seriously, it doesn't seem to matter how many times I hear any of the albums, I couldn't pick NYC, Heinrich Manoeuvre, Leif Erikson, PDA, etc. out from a line up. And I've heard the first album six or seven times.

I'm like that as well. I love PDA but I had to play it double-check what it was

I'll likely go to my grave having their first two albums still being two of my favs of all time. Really excited for their tour this fall, they're coming to my favorite venue in Utah.

Some interesting perspectives in here. One of the things that fascinates me about Interpol is the changes from album to album - although I agree the first two represent the pinnacle of their output. To disagree with an earlier poster - I find Antics to be the most complete album & it is leaner and meaner than TOTBL. However the debut has some incredible, immersive songs that are beyond compare.

I prefer the self titled to OLTA - Summer Well, Lights and Try It On are very important songs to me. Success and Barricade were good fun too.

Bring on El Pintor.

Antics rules. Honestly I haven't spent enough time with either album to really discuss, but "immersive" is a good word for Bright Lights. When you're not in the mood for diving that far in but still wanna listen to some Interpol, Antics is perfect.
