Smile, you're reading my post
shim sham
dance that beat
lights parading
spinning out of my head in time
radiate the sun,
burn up my soul
tear pieces of skin
as I softly sing and sway to the moon
shimmer swiftly stained scamper shaking shhhhhh
touchstone tickles trickling towards toes

girls can wear jeans
cut their hair short
wear shirts and boots
cause its ok to be a boy
but for a boy to look like a girl is degrading
because you think being a girl is
degrading
but secretly...
you'd love to know what its like
wouldn't you?
what it feels like for a girl

insomnia ripping through my midnight reverie
heart torn memories collapse and blanket my sun
jump into another world of fanciless fear and mishapen dreams
dont you ever want to just be?
Be this be that
Do this do that
Just shut up and go away
cant you see i want to be alone?

tears caught in a fraying mesh
little girls cry in play
big girls cry in fantastyme

i surrender to my own silence
and wake from a time never spent...

part in italics is taken from Madonna's 'What it feels like for a Girl', which was taken from somewhere else I guess.

Manda, I tried to pull out some that I especially loved and found myself repeating the whole poem..

absolutely incredible, your writing amazes me

in some ways, I envy the female, because you are allowed to be more complex in your emotions, males are degraded for exposing their emotions, and I can see your point (and Madonna's), because society does not accept males showing more "feminine" characteristics (although, I would argue that emotions are human traits, certainly not exclusive to females, but alas, that is the conventions of society... )

anyway, I think there is far too much truth in what you write, and I say "far too much" because the restrictions society places on gender make me insane
