Donnie just threw Ivanka under the bus too. He doesn't even care about his own kids in my humble opinion. They're just pawns in his narcissistic game. Cross him one time and you will pay. His adult children are afraid of him.

Ivanka turned 40 last October - he’s not longer interested.

Yes there's that too

This is now about a security failure of incredible magnitude and they don't even seem to want to talk about it. The one person that looks good is Donald Trump," he said.

“Biden doesn’t get the credit he deserves for steering the country through the worst of the pandemic, passing historic legislation, pulling the NATO alliance together against Russian aggression and restoring decency and decorum to the White House,” Mr. Axelrod added. “And part of the reason he doesn’t is performative. He looks his age and isn’t as agile in front of a camera as he once was, and this has fed a narrative about competence that isn’t rooted in reality.”

My hope is that Trump is cooked. But DeSantis is much smarter, and every bit as vindictive and fascist-sympathetic. Although I can’t see him inspiring the same level of blind devotion that Trump somehow does.

Anyway, there are D’s out there.

Russia likely to seize all of Luhansk in coming weeks, U.S. official says
https://www.washingtonpost.com/world...ussia-luhansk/

Such a move would leave Russia short of its war aims of capturing all of Luhansk and Donetsk, which together make up the Donbas region of eastern Ukraine. But it would still amount to a win for Russian forces and create a new de facto front line that could last for some time.

The Ukrainian cities of Severodonetsk and Lysychansk, in Luhansk, are increasingly under duress and could fall to Russian forces within a week, the official said, speaking on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue.

....Zelensky said Saturday that it was “too late” to persuade Russia to end its invasion, calling on the world to avoid compromise with Moscow and take stronger action against Russia.

Zelensky’s comments, delivered via video at the Shangri-La Dialogue, an annual security summit in Singapore, came a week after French President Emmanuel Macron sparked the ire of Ukraine and Eastern European allies when he said it was crucial not to “humiliate” Russia, to preserve the option of a diplomatic resolution to the conflict.

Paris appeared to be doing damage control Friday, with a presidential official telling reporters that France wants a Ukrainian victory and was unwilling to make concessions to Russia, Reuters reported.

We’ll see more and more of this shit.

Also, Idaho looks scary as hell to live haha. I know a lot of CA are moving there for cheap living etc, which Idaho folk despise (one of my coworkers lives in Boise).

I suppose one good thing about these terrorist groups explaining what they’re going to do in public meant law enforcement had a good chance at stopping them.

Don’t believe the group had any guns, but they definitely were geared up for a fight

There's a bipartisan gun deal. It's not remotely close to enough. And it better fucking pass.

Get it done, check some boxes, and then you can start working on more. But please for fucks sake don't do nothing, and don't kill the bill Democrats because it's not everything you want.

Why replace President Biden?
And a glass ceiling shatterer like Vice President Harris would be a no-go for you?

i'm all in favor of adding a maximum age to the presidency. if we can have a minimum, we can have a maximum. same goes for congress. nothing would help fix many of our issues than simply aging some of these assholes out.

no biden, no trump, no bernie, no nancy, no cocaine mitch.

it's amazing how the dems managed to even fuck up the timing of the 2nd hearing - which has a good chance of being bumped by every news network if the supreme court does what they're expected to do.

edit: they just bumped the start time 45 minutes. clearly this means that liz cheney an interference member.

Wasn’t the bump due to their lead off witness bailing for the birth of his child ?

And agree with the gun legislation, pass it. Looks like there’s some bite to it in that a few proposed laws could have stopped past shootings. That’s better than nothing.

there's one thing that is glaringly missing from these hearings...

proof that trump accepted all of the things that literally everyone was saying about the election and did all of the things he did anyway.

of course his lawyers will have to argue that he's literally insane, and would also have to admit in open court that the big lie is bullshit... but, ya know, if it means staying out of jail

This is speculation.

While I know we all know that Biden isn’t to blame for inflation or gas prices and he’s done a remarkable job in Ukraine and has restored some semblance of faith and trust in the US after 4 years of a clown show, it seems fair to assess that the midterms will be rough. If he’s seen as a drag on the party by 2024, he may step aside himself.

We will see how Harris does. I love breaking glass ceilings, but now that Trump has radicalized me into a win-at-all-costs-to-preserve-Democracy, if she’s not going to win then I’m not going to support her (unless she’s the nomine then I’ll be knocking on doors again).

What I am saying is that there are Democrats out there who are thinking 2028 who might step up in 2024. And Biden is the type of politician who will put party before ego.

Liz Cheney is a person with terrible views who threw her own sister under the bus and is also doing the right thing, and her abilities are fucking impressive.

The Dems need to learn from her.

trump type folks and other general republicans who try to paint liz as some kind of RINO might be my favorite part of this entire thing. it's so absurd that it's comical.

I've advocated for a maximum age for some time. Maybe 70 to start your first term (you can run for re-election at 73 for example but can't run if over 70 for a second term that is non-consecutive a la Grover Cleveland).

It makes sense to me that if you aren't ready for office until a certain age, you can also definitely age out. All of us (save Harrison Ford of course) will decline physically and mentally as we age, it's just a fact. Sure, the level and timeline of decline will vary widely, but we should have some agreed upon baseline to use.
If you happen to be power lifting 2,869 lbs. and solving the NYT crossword in 6.9 seconds flat at age 114 like Harrison Ford, good for you but you still can't be President, but you can play him in a sequel if you like.
