You want to listen to one U2 album, but you only have 20 minutes... so, what do you do?
Here's the challenge.
Create a micro-album and a mini-album version of all 13 U2 albums.
---
The purpose of this is exactly what I said in the first line: I'm interested (and I guess more people would be interested aswell) in "short" playlists that work together.
If I want to listen to a pack of songs that won't last more than 20 or 30 minutes, to have a series of play lists ready to just hit play.
So, give it a try and post what you find that works for you (maybe it'll work for someone else too).
---
Some "rules" here:
1. For the first category, every album must be shorter than 21 minutes.
For the second category, every album must be shorter than 31 minutes.
2. You can't include songs not included in the normal release of the album (i.e. NO bonus tracks, no b-sides, etc).
However, you can use alternative versions or mixes of the album songs, including those made on your own.
3. Try to keep the "spirit" of the album... like when a book is adapted into a movie, you have to get rid of several important things, but in the end you have to feel that the book is there.
The mini-album has to "sound" like the full album (obviously this is impossible, but you have to try)... that you felt that you actually listened to the album.
4. Not every song works as an opener of an album, much less as a closer. Obviously we all have different opinions on what is a good closer, so we may not agree on our decisions, but keep this in mind and try to choose songs that you honestly believe that fit.
5. Try to make them flow... some songs sound better after one song than after another. Keep this in mind when creating your track list.
5. This is NOT a "choose the best 4 songs" in each album.
Probably (most likely) because of rules #3, #4 and #5, you will have to choose a lesser song over one of your favourites because of that.
However, if you can make it work with your favourites, even better.
6. You can come up with "alternative" versions ignoring rule #3, focusing on the songs you like the most, but still keeping in mind the running time AND the opener/closer/flow of the album.
For these versions please use the "spoiler" tag.
---
I'll start.
Hope you like it and I hope you submit your own mini/micro albums
