does anyone know where the lyrics are from that bono would sing during the slow intro to the fly on the last tour? made up on the spot from the inner depts of bono's mind? or from another song?

ex) "It's hard to walk away, when you could have it all"

any thoughts?

Those lyrics are about the troubles and temptations faced by the modern rocker at the top. The song "The Fly" itself deals with those themes, Bono taking the part of the larger-than-life character of the fly during performances of the song during the '92/'93's Zoo TV tour.

"It's hard to walk away when you could have it all" refers to the expected drugs/sex/rock 'n' roll attitude expected by top musical celebrities and Bono's stuggles with them. Feel free anyone to comment on my interpretation if you want.

Nice interpretation :)

I think Bono made up the lyrics on the spot because those intros are different among each other.

Questions?

I am not sure, but I think the lyrics are (Fly intro):

You walk out into the sports hall
Lights go down, it's a whole different scene
Light in motion, light in motion
Lights up the motion, and the sound
It's hard to walk away
But you can't have it all
We can't have it all
Can't have it all soon

OK?
