This is a report done on U2 showing video of their performance at the Maple Leaf Ballroom in Toronto on March 11, 1981, with the interview taking place on that date or around then. By March 14, 1981, the band were in San Diego California. Earlier, they had performed in Ottawa Canada on March 10.

The interview is conducted in a cafe with Bono and Adam Clayton. The live clips from the show are also some of the earliest live clips I have seen, although the January 15, 1980 live performance on the Late Late Show in Ireland is the earliest live performance on video that I have seen.

I never realized the US cover of Boy was different because it was censored, weird.

 That first interviewer, 'Do you think success might spoil U2?" with no idea she was talking to members of what would become arguably the most enduringly successful band ever, priceless.

Although not an interview, this may be U2's first performance on UK TV. I think it was recorded for Richard Skinner's tv program. September 1980, London. Maida Vale Studios.

Check out Adam's hair.

This is definitely a performance from 1980, perhaps September 7, 1980 supporting Echo & the Bunnymen at the Lyceum Ballroom in London.

I love Bono's statements about how they feel about politics in the OP's video.

I love that "The Fool" one, above. I've often reflected on how it's the only appearance where Bono looked like more of a girl than Larry.
