people are crazy if they think the band is gonna stop playing one, streets, pride, bullet, vertigo, BD or sunday bloody sunday, those will be in every night, probably along with NYD and mysterious ways, and i'm sure with or without you, i still haven't found and until the end will be on most show's, you can't play a show w/ 60,000 people without those songs. i for one don't wanna be at a U2 show where i'm one of 50 people singing along to acrobat, god i love it but it's just not gonna happen, i think this is more likely, i'm closing in on perfecting it lol

20. Window in the Skies
21. One
22. I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight

I think this combines some setlist experimentation and 90's weighting along with some concessions to things they'll have to play. They have to play Crazy Tonight if they make it a single, and they're not going to not play Vertigo, things like that. But I think these songs do justice to the themes of the album and still fulfill audience expectations about singles, classics, etc.

The > indicates that it segues into the next song organically.

1. Magnificent
2. Get On Your Boots
3. Vertigo
4. Crazy Tonight
5. With Or Without You
6. The Fly >
7. No Line On The Horizon

16. Bad
17. White As Snow
18. Lemon
19. Moment of Surrender
20. 40

I see a lot of people agree with Magnificent being a perfect opener. The buildup with the low guitar bursts, it feels a lot like Elevation--they can extend that intro as long as they need to, and when it lets loose it will be freaking glorious. Aside from that, it also feels thematically like an opener: Bono's dedicating his voice back to God, like an invocation to the Muse, and because it references singing so much it introduces the theme of sound that weaves through the album.

The Fly and No Line just have to be played side by side. The riffs match too well not to.

Unknown Caller would be great before Streets. It has the Walker Percy "ex-suicide" story, and the organ. Musically, that might be the best transition. And if someone were to convince them to lead into Unknown Caller with The Three Sunrises (Sun shine on me...), it would be .

Hey Zooronaut! Just made an On-The-Go playlist of your setlist and am going to give it a listen--it looks good, especially with a bunch of great live recordings thrown in there, especially the ones from the Somerville gig a few weeks back!

I'll let you know how it goes

Wow, I'm flattered, DontExpect. I didn't realize anyone would pay that much attention to my setlist! :hyper:
I hope you like it! I thought a lot about the order but I haven't even listened to it all the way through yet....

Wow, Three Sunrises into Unknown Caller would be amazing...though quite unrealistic.
Of course, who would have thought they'd play Miss Sarajevo and The Ocean with some regularity on the last tour?
While U2 don't really mix up the setlist, they aren't afraid to pull out something old if it makes sense.

This would be very close to the dreaded 'greatest hits' tour that Def Leppard is on full time now.

Of the first 7 songs mentioned in your post, I will be surprised to see more than 2 each night. I'm not sure which 2, but some of these songs will be officially retired this time around IMO.

If I have to hear Bullet again, its my pee break.

Of those 7, I think the closest two songs to guaranteed are Streets and Vertigo -- Streets is the classic for us old-timers that works before or after quite a few songs, Vertigo is the up-tempo song many enjoy that brings the newer U2 fan along.

Just my 2 cents.

I think Zooropa would be a really great opener, but they always open with a song from their new album, i think NLOTH would be a great opener.

I just hope they open with either F-BB or Unknown Caller.

I won't be pleased if its GOYB. Too predictable, and would mean you miss out on a massive spine-tingler to start. Sure it has energy, but imagine either:

a) Whatever songs on the PA, then much louder the wierd organ linking piece thats in the middle of Fez before the key-change, and into the first part of Fez. People screaming, and Bono's voice ringing over the stadium with LET ME IN THE SOUND (like the influx Elevation mix before the elevation shows), then the linking piece and they all explode at once into Being Born.

b) the other music stops, lights go down, and you can hear birds. the stadium is pitch black and people start screaming. Edge and Larry slide onto stage in the cover of darkness. Larry plays the cymbal beat and Edge starts the slow riff. Only Edge and Larry sing the "sunshine, sunshine" bit. Adam and B go onstage, and the lights burst on as Edge hits the big G chord to go into the main song. All 4 are mic'd up, and the crowd go bananas with "Ohhh-o-o-ohhhh"

I prefer option b, but a is also good. Anything but GOYB

I also think that FEZ-Being Born could be worked into an interesting and dramatic opener. Also, I think Unknown Caller would work best as either the opener OR encore because using the birds, slow riffs and sunshines need time for the build up. I love the whole atmosphere of that song.
