I too am tired of the same old, same old people getting on stage. But the band obviously doesn't care because they keep pulling the same fucktards on stage... *shrug*
I met Bono for my first time, after a lot of hard work of walking around Rogers arena, and a lot of determination. The moment when I met him, most of the line nazi idiots who monopolize the band's time every time they come out, as if they are all old friends, were at @U2's party. Universal justice!!
We had a nice, relaxed crowd and Bono got to converse with all of us individually.
So Friday during the day, I happened to be walking by the same entrance where the band comes in on my way to the hotel... And Bono was out there again. And you know what?! I didnt stop!!
I thought, "I had my great moment with Bono... I'm going to let other people have a turn."
Can you believe that I just walked on?? (Not saying that I am never going to try to meet the band again... Still would like a moment with Edge and Adam, and Larry only if he's in a good mood.)
Also. Been on the rail in E. Lansing on 360, right in front of Bono's mic. That was another venue where none of the usual Nazis were there... So NEW people got to be in the front. It was the best experience of my life. Yes, I would love that to happen again some time. But you know what? If I was with someone who I knew had never been on the rail in a position like that, I would give it to them. Why? Cuz I dont NEED to be on the rail EVERY FREAKING TIME.
2-3 rows back, which you can get without even waiting in line all day, is still great.
And, as I learned in Moncton, sometimes being right in the middle of the pit is wonderful too.
My enjoyment of U2 music is not dependent on my being on the rail. And I think it is for some of these people. They've lost touch on what is really important about U2 music... maybe even what they really love... They've become Rail Divas, begging for the attention of the band. "Notice me, Bono! NOTICE ME!!" is what they scream. The show isnt about U2 anymore; it's about them.
I feel sorry for you folks.
