Actually, if I were to make a Biblical comparison I would have to say it's more like Sodom and Gomorrah around here.

PLEBA is getting out of control. I used to be one of PLEBAs staunch defenders, but lately this place is making me sick. And face it, there's been a storm brewing around this place for a LONG time now. The mods are discussing PLEBAs fate and I confess I encouraged them to overhaul this place.

I am afraid that if this keeps up some of my fellow disgusted PLEBA sisters will drop this forum like a bad habit and move on. So before this forum is deleted and/or before I lose contact with my friends I would like a favor:

If anyone here is interested in participating in a PLEBA-style forum that is not affiliated with Interference (bless their little cotton sox) please email me: bobtherobot@hotmail.com.

I've been looking at message board hosts with Mona...trying to find ones with pleasant interfaces, that support HTML so we could still post pics. Basically, it will be quite similar to PLEBA; hot pics, scripts, the MacPhisto Society, and discussions between people who know the difference between innuendo and vulgarity. But it will be INVITATION ONLY.

This isnt a definite thing yet. I think it best to wait and see what happens in the next week or two...perhaps things will settle down again. But there's always going to be an anti-PLEBA sentiment invading this forum from elsewhere...hell, often the in-fighting is more vicious than the outsiders are! I hope, with a new forum, to eliminate that negativity.

If you also fear PLEBA's demise/total corruption and would like to continue the Frottage Cottage tradition elsewhere, PLEASE EMAIL ME. That means YOU Bluey, Mrs. Edge, Disco, Gina Marie, Mullen Girl, Bona, Fishy, Ana, Julie! Anyone who is interested! I'm not going to automatically exclude the newbies 'cause some of you seem like great girls.

It's difficult to talk about PLEBA like its a disease...well, not so difficult for SOME...I hate to sound like I'm encouraging you all to just leave PLEBA, just like that, with no qualms. But I'm not sticking around here just to be miserable and wishing for the old days.

Anyone interested in a new, more private forum will be notified of the location of the new board if/when it is established and will be encouraged to have their pics and scripts at the ready.

I've been away from here since around Thanksgiving (holidays, illness, and limited computer access will do that). What happened?!

I doubt PLEBA will be shut down either...just have some changes made, possibly.

My goodness Echo you sure are active in announcements today. The more you talk about it the more of a big chaotic mess it's going to make.

Lets not go all haywire. PLEBA is not going to be shutdown, that is obsurd.

I for one am just going to be reading more here and making sure everything is going smoothly.

One thing that troubles me is the amount of young people coming in. So if they stay then the "porn" is going to have to be cut down, including talking about it, not just pictures.

If everyone participates, there should be no problems.

you're saying you think things get to personal? to sexual? maybe, they do occasionaly, but i don't feel it's affected the overall feel of the forum.

it would be ashame for you to leave PLEBA. and it shouldn't be shut down. if a thread gets out of control, it should be closed. but i truely believe most threads in here are all in good fun. proof being in the ali threads, were ever bono loving girl in here will confess how wonderful a person ali is. no one takes this to seriously. bono's my dream guy, but it's a dream. i live my life in reality.

i like you a lot echo. you're a fun, sweet girl. but, i've been here longer then you. if i were to say that PLEBA has undergone any changes in the last 6 months, i would say it happend when you arrived. you made it cliquey. i deal with that shit at school, i don't need it here. and YOU were behind that first shift in PLEBA that offened interference legends such as sicy. you have the guts to complain about how PLEBA is changing, but when you were called on it you couldn't handle it? that's low, echo.

the forum changes as new members are added and old members move away. it will always be like that. at it's heart, PLEBA still has the feeling of "a girl's night out." it's about fantasy, it's about fun, but mainly it's just about U2.

almost everything sexual said in here is an innuendo. it's madonnaish, if i dare say so, sugguested but not said. i agree their are some newbies that are too quickly embracing the sexaul freedom of PLEBA. it should be emphasized that nothing should be taken to far. for instance, my location says "down bono's pants." it's sugguestive; i could be giving him head or giving him a wedgie. it's playful but not blunt or disrespectful. however, you made attacks against tride and true members such as bonochick. i would hope you have more respect for her. she's an original PLEBAian.

everyone in here is a U2 fan. people express their love for U2 differently, but everyone has it. if you can't respect people's differences then leave.

(i'd like to reiterate that i'm not attacking you as a person, echo, but your reasoning behind your opinion.)

I want to make a few things clear:

This is not some sudden decision I made based on a fleeting phenomenon. As I said, the negativity has been building for a long time. PLEBA has always been the joke of Interference. PLEBAns themselves quarreled before I got here, and they will quarrel after I leave.

I also want to defend this change that I apparently caused in PLEBA. Yes, I suppose I was influental. But I never did anything that Mona or Bluey didn't do before me. I certainly don't mean to shift the blame to them, they're my advocates. I am only saying, I didn't come to PLEBA to change it, I came to participate in what was already going on. By the time I got here the hot pic threads were already a thing of the past.

Also, I would like to acknowledge that yes, PLEBA is ideally a community and differences must be respected. As you will see if you read previous posts on this matter, I have advocated understanding as much as anyone. Obviously I don't have a problem with raunch in and of itself; I was one of the great purveyors of it. But until recently, PLEBAns have found ways to channel their inclinations, for example by posting threads full of pics (like Bonochick) or writing stories (like Mrs. Edge) or forming sub-communities (like the MacPhisto Society).

But this new incarnation of PLEBA is self-indulgent and uncontrolled. There's no self-discipline, no discretion, and certainly no originality. It is no longer what I would consider a "community." The newbies are coming in faster than we can acculturate them...it was one thing when one newbie would come in and post six new and off-topic threads in a day and we'd have them calmed down in a week or so. But it's a whole new ballgame now.

You know, PLEBA's been all thats been keeping me sane the last three months. I'm not going to sit here and detail my sob story 'cause thats not what I'm about, but I want you guys to know that I'm not typically inclined to just storm out just 'cause things arent going my way, despite what you think of me. The reason I'm doing this is becuase I really care about PLEBA and I know a lot of girls here really care about it too and I don't want to see the friends I've made take off because this place gets out of hand.

I assure you I'm not the only one who's getting bad vibes off of PLEBA, and I'm not the only one who's ready to leave.

BTW, Olive, I apologize for pointing your thread out...it's not in the same league with the others and not what I truly wanted ot make an example of.
 
Eating puke is a little much...I know it was a joke, but come on ladies...Anyway, I think you should post what you want but also take into consideration the views of others at the same time. Go check out The Lemonade Stand. I don't care who was here first or last, people should be respectful of one another; this would include the band.

thanks, echo. i'm not too sure what this is all about or if i'm awake/sober enough to post a coherent response, but i appreciate your apology. no hard feelings- and i hope you don't leave pleba. it (pleba) is all in good fun. and hopefully tomorrow i can offer something more insightful.

I was not going to get involved in this.
I don't see anything all that wrong with PLEBA... if things get a little out of control, fine let those particular threads be addressed and nipped in the bud, as it were.

I come here to have fun and to write some goofy stuff that will hopefully make someone laugh for a second. There are always periods of change that subside into the "good old days" or the "new good old days".

Basically I have come here to say....eh. I just don't think it's worth panicking over personally. Call me apathetic, I probably won't care.

I don't want anyone to leave, and I hope things get better soon... There have always been disagreements, there always will be. Bottom line is, everyone is here to have fun. I have no real answers here people, in case no one has noticed...Lol. This is my big "can't we all just get along?" moment.

PLEBA can't stay the same forever, it has to change every now and then or else people would get bored of it. Personally, I think change is a good thing.

I'm sorry to offend people, but I must ask this question: IS THIS IMPORTANT?

Think of life. Think of the world around you. Think of your freedoms. Think of the sky above you. Think of the house you live in. Think of the friends you cherish. Think of the family you love.

Now where does this argument fit into the grand scheme? Does anyone realize how small this issue is in comparison to the rest of life? In my own life I find it hard to wrestle with all the problems that come my way...dealing with college life, trying to figure out how I'm going to pay for groceries this week, deciding which direction my life is going, supporting my family members, (and your own problems here). Now scroll back up to the top of the thread and read it again.

Does it seem like a life-threatening problem? Does it seem like a good way to begin 2002? Is it something we need to concern ourselves over?

I leave the answers up to you.

Echo, your quest for control over this forum is nothing short of quaint.

Dont say you do not wish to change things, then list one by one all your problems. Followed with something like, this is why I will leave, and others will follow. Its a thinly veiled threat that means little at the end of the day, so what if you do leave? Your friends will know where to find you. I'm quite sure you do not communicate through this board alone. Of course it would be a shame to see any member leave here, when it is for all the wrong reasons. But what you propose is unaskable, let alone doable. You want everyone to tow the line? You want discipline, and rules to be adhered to, you want this, that, whatever. Some of your points about content are valid. This does not include Bonochicks vomit thread. I agree with certain smut content. I wish to make 2 points on this though. One, a thread with pictures often conveys the same message as one with type. It is just not a ruse to hint, and play and use inuendo. Two, the fact that its the type threads that disturb the most show one thing; the lack of maturity to deal with genuine inuendo, all that. If you are serious about having it removed, then be prepared to tone your pictures down. There are a lot of young girls in here. We need to be aware of this, and we need to take responsibility. The few posts I made were mocking. Not in content, but to the lengths of hero worship some go. To an outsider this place is quite amusing.

Anyway, what is it you hate? Stupidity? Smut? Pointlessness? These have been here since the start, and have appeared in many different forms. You, being a newcomer to here cannot change the foundations of this place. You can change the surface, but for how long? If you have specific complaints, talk to the mods, air them, but do it properly. Salomey and Sicy will not treat your concerns with any less respect than anyone else who posts here. Mods are chosen by general consensus, and by Elvis who doesn't really get this wrong. I am wondering what you really hope to achieve with grandiose talks of rebellion like this. It has been done before, thing is most kinda forget about it after a while, cos its not real life, and this forum and all others here should be taken with the proverbial grain.

And really stop with this newbie bullshit. I don't know how many forums you visit here, but the whole word 'newbie' tends to make anyone cringe. 2 months of posting dont mean squat. You are no more, no less valid than anyone else. There are no ranks, there is no pecking order.

My 2 cents (if it really makes a diff) is this: If you don't like it, don't post. Its really that simple. If the thread sounds questionable or objectionable, don't click it.

As for PLEBA being the butt of everyone's jokes, so let it be. I don't understand why this forum needs to be either approved or disapproved by other forum members... if they don't like it, they usually stay out. Another person's dislike should not be considered a sudden call-to-arms, which only exacerbates the situation anyways.

As for the bad innuendo threads or sexual vulgarity, I seriously think that's the moderators' job to either keep those in line or close them... and they seem to be doing a decent job uptil late.

As for cliques, I see them. But quite frankly, I don't care... they're everywhere, here, work, school, LIFE. GET OVER IT! They usually grow/break apart eventually.... Cliques only become an issue when they tag-team against other people (which I haven't seen happen, but I also don't take the liberty to read every post either!)

And finally, I think everyone has to remember that this is just the internet. Therefore, not everything should be taken as gospel. If you find it objectionable here, leave or tell a moderator. I'm sure there are plenty of havens where you can post in peace, but as with all online communities, there are bound to be the same problems sooner or later. Its not the problem itself, but how you deal with the problem.
