I think that's the best place to start. The eventual top 20 mostly contains all the essential albums and individual lists always contain some gems. There's no other place on this forum where the recommendations are concentrated in a similar manner.
Anyone else been into Mitski's 'Puberty 2' album? I don't recall seeing it mentioned in the favorite albums of the year thread, it's one of my favs.

Random, non-music ...
How the fuck does anyone buying a house ever decide on a place without extreme anxiety? Do people hold out for the "perfect" house in their price range, or do people find one they feel comfortable in that might have a few flaws they can live with?
I haven't said this on your FB, but this resale bullshit is driving me crazy. Get the house you want. Plan for YOU, not some future owners. If you really like it, buy it.
I would caution against buying something that needs significant work unless you are really handy and enjoy that kind of thing. Because if you have to hire people to do the work, the costs will add up really fast.
Yeah, it's another great Ray album. The new Ray LaMontagne album
-was produced by Jim James
-sounds like post-Syd, pre-Dark Side Pink Floyd
-is surprisingly good
And in my own non-music personal report, I just finished principal photography on my first feature film. Pretty drained, pretty relieved, pretty proud.
