It was great Russy thanks for asking  how have you been?

I'm doing okay Darren, having a bit of a crap week. I'm just holding out till November at this point. If I can just make it till November everything will be better. My big plan for the day is to watch Lord of the Rings-Return of The King extended edition, while laying on the couch all afternoon. And possibly folding laundry if I can be bothered with it. :giggle:

Return of the king  Can I come?

I'm in such a crap mood this morning I have to really watch myself. On another thread about Live 8 someone posted how U2 was better then the Beatles and that Paul McCartney is just crap and they shouldn't be playing with him.

Its taking all of my self control not to tell them where they can fucking get off! In our house you don't give crap about the Beatles unless you want to get a huge boot in the arse!

I don't think you can really compare The Beatles to U2, they are totally different and both great for different reasons.

Back again, slow in here isnt it?

I'm torn between ITV1 at 11:30 or bed haha, i have to be up at 5am :madspit: the things i go through just to see a bit of B :)drool: the thought of it)

 Bono does look very hot in that suit!!

I'm a total LOTR addict  loved the books, love the movies... I even love the cartoon version of "the Hobbit" :reject:

D, I sent my little attempt at smut fiction through to your e-mail listed with interference :D

I compare them to U2. U2 is 110% the Beatles of my generation. They both changed things. Politically, musically, artistically, societally...
The parallels are remarkable

But I love both groups with a passion :D

Agreed,

The Beatles were an amazing band and luckily U2 still are! Paul McCartney is a legend and anyone lucky enough to go to Live8 should be thrilled at the opportunity to see so many great bands! So yeah, tell them to fuck off Russty! Well, do it privately!! Mods are our friends .

Anyone saying anything bad about the beatles in this city gets a boot up the arse! And sooo they should! If you want liverpool, you get the beatles!

Have you ever watched the movie with the cast commentaries? OH man its so freakin fun to hear things from their view point.

Your right as well about them being the Beatles of our generation. They have brought about alot of change, just like the Beatles did. I still wish John wouldn't have gotten taken away from us so early. A duet between him and Bono would have been amazing.

I've watched all of the behind the scenes stuff, and laughed my ass off doing it... I love the story about Dom getting the splinter in his foot... :lmao:

 Much of The world was not ready for a man like John Lennon. Much of the world wasn't ready for Bono, at times, either. Thank God there are more people to defend such men today, though, huh?

 You said it so much better then I did. Its about realizing its a privilege to be at an amazing event. People don't even realizing what a life changing thing Live8 can be for so many people. I would love to be there, but I'm going to be sitting on my couch watching and I guarentee you crying my eyes out! When your raised on music, especially The Beatles you learn early on what music can do. And the idea of two such huge elements in music getting together for a great cause, makes me so happy and love them all the more.

You said it well Russty!

I also would have loved to have gone

But, i think Liverpool is having a big screen so everyone can watch it in the city centre. So, I'll be dragging my friends with me, along with my makepovertyhistory art work and still be part of the event!!

:hmm: scratch th artwork idea.

The splinter story was so funny! I can just imagine him hopping around and screaming like he is being murdered. :lmao:

Its such a fucked up world we live in sometimes when we loose great men and women simply, because they choose to speak out about stuff they felt was wrong. I often worry about that with Bono. I'm so glad that they are more careful about things like this. Sadly their are still lots of idiots around in the US. :( Just a few months ago in the next small town from us, 2 fucked up people put a burning cross on the lawn of an African American family. Thankfully the people here spoke up and told them publicly by holding a march thru the neighborhood that it would not be tolerated. The two men are now in prison, awaiting trial for burning down a church, and supposedly killing to gay men. Its a sad world when people like that think what they are doing is right. :(

I know, the world is :censored: up indeed. We recently had a case here involving three men who killed two other men who came up to hunt. The issue was mostly just that they were from downstate, and the locals didn't like them, picked a fight and caved their skulls in. Then they fed them to the pigs on their farm and no one could ever prove it. Two women witnessed part of it, and they threatened them, terrorized them for nearly twenty years. Finally one woman died and the other was diagnosed with cancer, so she finally spoke up and the men were just convicted maybe three months ago, for a twenty plus year old homicide.

And that was just locals versus tourist issues, a very mild one usually, compared to racial and religious. there are many things I will never ever understand.

And I will admire and recognize, cheer on anyone brave enough to speak up when they see something is not right or something that deserves recognition. These guys are my heroes specifically because of that.

I need some advice on something from you guys.

My parents are moving soon. They are selling my childhood home and having a new house built. I'm fine with that. I didn't really want the house. The crap part of it all is they are also having a house built for my brother and his wife and kid. My brother is a fucked up individual who hasn't held a steady job in his life. He was very emotionally and physically abusive to me when we were kids. To the point of when I was 16 I told my parents either he had to leave or I would. I couldn't take it anymore. The topper of it all was when he tried to throw me down my parents stairs one day, cuz he was pissed off. I had never done anything to him, but that day I punched him in the face just to save myself from being hurt again.

The did make him leave, but as soon as I got married they let him move back in with him. He has been sponging off of them ever since. He is still abusive, but we live hundreds of miles away so I don't see him that often. And Mr. Cat threaten him that he ever touched me again he would kill him. So the deal is my parents are also giving him and his family all their furniture. All I've asked of my parents is to have 2 small dishes that were heirlooms from my granddad and their piano, which my granddad bought my mom when she was 6. My granddad died when my mom was 19. I never got to meet him. These are the only things left that have a connection to him.

So my mother has never responded to me about the damn piano. I want the fucker! I will play it and my girls will as well. I have to call her today to talk to her about some other stuff and I'm wondering should I ask her again about it? My in laws are coming up this weekend and bringing us a china hutch that was my parents. Its a piece of crap, but we need one so I told my mom we would take it. I want the damn piano and I told them I would even drive the 500 miles to them and pick it up and bring it home. It means that much to me. I will be so pissed if she gives it to my brother who has never had any interest in it in his life. <head desK>

Hi everyone!!!

I LOVE LOTR. I'm surprised no one's noticed how it ties into my screenname.

Its amazing to me what people will do!!! ARGH!

But then the world redeems it self by having people like JFK and Martin Luther King, Jr. who speak out even though they know it may mean death. To put others before yourself ist such an amazing thing to do.

I love that the boys speak out and not just for a moment, but they keep at it. They keep saying "Hey your not listening! Your obviously not getting it! So here let me tell you again why this is just wrong!"

I found a quote in my online journal the other day from 2 years ago. It was Bono speaking up about the AIDS epidemic. Even then when U2 had really faded from my view, Bono still got thru to me about how important speaking up is. And not just once, continue speaking till someone hears and responds.

I don't see any reason why you shouldn't ask about it. Keep asking at least until you have an answer!

  exactly.

And more, even, because there is a wonderful balance between words and actions. I love the story of how when the FBI told them not to go on stage because there was a group who had threatened too, and WOULD kill Bono for singing Pride and for their campaign to get MLK jr's birthday set as a holiday and they were all like 'Not going on is not even an option'

and Bono was nervous but facing it and then he opened his eyes and there was Adam standing in front of him, ready to take a bullet...

Have I ever told you guys how much I  Adam?

Thank you! Thats how I feel. But sometimes I have guilt thinking I'm being selfish about it. I will be so glad when all of this is over with. Once my parents move I honestly don't think I will contact them anymore. I've been slowly weening them out of my life. I just can't deal with them anymore. No matter how much I loved my mother, she is no longer the same woman. And my aunt who is her big sister even said sometimes we just have to move on with our lives and let things go that aren't healthy for us.

I do miss my little brother though. The bastard went to New Zealand about 6 months ago and has disappeared. I think he had the same idea. I'm sure he is okay, I just wish he would at least contact me. :(

</fucked up family rant>
