Is it allowed to give a backwards pass ?

:reject:

You can throw backwards or sideways passes as often as you like, but the ball is still alive if it hits the ground (so the other team can recover it).

Only one forward pass is allowed by the offense on each play, and the thrower must be behind the original line of scrimmage to throw it. If it hits the ground, the play is dead.

Yes, but it is considered a "lateral". If the ball hits the ground (not caught), it is still "live" and a defensive player can pick it up.

On forward passes, if the ball hits the ground, the ball is dead and the play is over.
