I could recognize of kernel of something good in KOL, but they simply were not up to the task. Part of it was that they seemed to shrink a little bit at the prospect of opening up for U2.
Just comparing, for example, to PJ last time around, she was really fired up and talking up U2 and acted like she belonged there. KOL said things like, after two songs, "thanks for being respectful," which I heard as "thanks for not booing us," which kind of communicates to an audience ready to rock that you don't think you're very good.
