As many of you know, I was mugged and beaten in March. I had to be rushed to the emergency room to have my injuries taken care of. Sadly, being a recent college grad and woefully underemployed, I had no health insurance. I worried about paying huge medical bills. However, because I was a victim of a violent crime, I was able to apply for Wisconsin's "Victims of Violent Crimes Compensation Fund." I filled out the application and sent in the appropriate paperwork. The process took a very long time, but yesterday I found out that my application has been approved and the state will be paying all of the medical expenses concerned with the attack. I'm absolutely thrilled that I won't have these expenses hanging over my head.
