i don't care what it's called. i just want to eat it.
And Sicy, I think it's actually called Croque Monsieur, not Monsieur Croque. /anal retentive nitpicker

Apparently you divide the cake mix into little bowls, add colouring to each then combine it back together in the tin. I'd like to give it a go one day, but I dont think the UK has such technocolour food colouring as the US. Google "rainbow cake", it brings up more pics and details.
have you tried a cake decorating store for colors? I make this cake all the time, especially when it's for a kid's birthday. They go nuts over it more so than what the outside looks like.
Here's the batter in the pan...you just start in the middle and keep adding your other colors to the middle of the pan. It all eventually spreads out to make the lines.
This was for my family otherwise I never would have done the center layer like this. I was going to make 2 rainbow cakes but ended up only needing one so I decided to make this cake really tall by using a layer that didn't match.
If you recognize these, I have just made you extremely hungry. I am sorry.

I love love love food and baking. Some of my latest:
Buttermilk Biscuits
Germany, giant schnitzel - seriously it's hard to see here, but that "plate" is like a platter, really.
Crispy crab wontons
Can any of you cook? How long does this food take to prepare at home? My philosophy is that, excluding the time food takes to cook in the oven because at least I can be doing something else whilst it's cooking, food preparation should not have to take longer than an hour. I mean what's the point of spending longer to prepare food than it takes to eat it? Unless it's from one of Jamie Oliver's 30 minute recipes where he makes cooking look like fun I see it as bloody boring and I am completely useless if the recipe is too difficult.
But eating in is cheaper than eating out where I live.
