Sadly, even if we DID call, the doctors won't release info to anyone who isn't immediate family. Patient/doctor confidentiality and all that jazz.

there's different rules for celebrities. Tell him you work for TMZ or somethin'

In other words, LiveNation SoCal says: "STOP FRICKIN' CALLING US!"

:)

Live Nation probably doesn't have the answer yet. It didn't seem that McGuinness knew for sure either. Surgery was today. So waiting to see where Bono is (healing-wise) on Monday makes sense. And Principle Mgmnt has probably been working all day on plan B, C and D.

I suppose patience is our best option, for now.

Totally agree

The waiting game just sucks

In the meantime, lets all play "Miracle drug" in our ipod, maybe it will send some good vibes so that the healing goes well and quick.

CNN is also jumping the gun. Nothing has OFFICIALLY been postponed except the opener in SLC.

CNN is good at jumping the gun.

* pulls out his trusty Gibson Explorer and does his best Edge impression *

"Beneath the noise / Below the din / I hear a voice / It's whispering / In science and in medicine / I was a stranger / You took me in...

The songs are in your eyes / I see them when you smile / I've had enough of romantic love / I'd give it up, yeah, I'd give it up / For a miracle drug, for a miracle drug / Miracle, miracle drug"

 Get him a Rascal scooter!

I can't get that visual out of my head.

Where the streets have no naaaaame! (zoooooom)

ahaha! I was telling someone at work tonight they should get him a Rascal!

Anyway, I keep seeing people talking about recovery time.
With my mom's surgery, we knew the recovery time before it was done.
Generally from my knowledge the doctor's have a good idea about recovery time before the surgery takes place.
Each operation has a different recovery period, now that can change depending on the person etc.
But I'm willing to bet they have a good idea of how long it will take to recover, and will know for sure Sunday night or Monday morning.

My mom had a lumbarectomy (sp) and spinal fusion, if they are telling the crew to take the SLC Claw to Minny, well then whatever isn't that! It was 6+ weeks recovery, then rehab for a while

I heard about this early this morning and I wish I would've been here to discuss with all of you but I was driving from Ohio to Florida. It's been a very, very long day not only because of the car ride but also due to this news. I bet Bono feels horrible about this unfortunate situation. He's so good to us. He has the best fans in the world. Usually most people would be irate because they bought the tickets and now the shows are getting moved ((possibly)). Usually fans don't care about anything but the shows. In our case, our B-Man in the hospital is almost a...well, shock. I don't know about anyone else but sometimes I see Bono as a super hero--larger than life, like nothing can stop him or hurt him. I know he's human, yes, but that's how I've always looked at him.

All in all, I will hold him and his family in my prayers and pray, also, for a speedy, painless and wonderful recovery.

Holy..this is very bad. Hope SLC is the only one postponed, everyone's alredy hyped up..but his health is much more important..excellent health = excellent show...and hope the tour can start as soon as he recovers.

Get well soon Bono. :(

Wow , this is a total bummer, my heart skipped a beat there. :|
I hope the B-man recovers soon, and painless!
Also a big hug for all the people who where so exited about SLC
They won't forget you:up:

I hope not!! I drove by Rice Eccles stadium in SLC this morning, and the claw was almost completely set up. My brother was in the stadium yesterday and took an amazing photo of it! Talk about a pit in the stomach. This has been a brutal day. Just hoping and praying and crossing fingers for Bono. Get well soon!!!:heart::heart:

Huge bummer, especially for the people who already booked hotel and airfare.

Larry also had a back surgery in the mid 1990's, and he goes often to Germany to get shots in order to avoid back pain. Does anybody know if this is the same doctor/specialist?

hi guys,
I'm sorry for you guys accross the Atlantic, but also for the B-man.
Having to undergo emergency back surgery doesn't sound that promising... ...hopefully Bono recovers quickly..
Paul McG. was talking about dates, so I guess more dates could be postponed....
.. no doubt there will be a lot of work done behind the scenes... in the meantime I hope Bono will recover fully..
Take care you fans in the States..

Here's the future guys!

Awwh. Thank you. Ya, this sux for everyone but most especially for Bono. :(

I find the idea quite scary that Bono will go on stage too early and will be in permanent pain during the tour, with concerts being shortened or cancelled. I don't know, but I'd rather have him recover fully. From what I know about Bono I think he will feel horrible about everything and will try to go out on stage and move on with the tour as soon as possible. I hope he will take good care and take some reasonable medical advice.

this must have also serious effects on all those 400 (?) people involved in the preparation of the tour...Hope Bono recovers soon. And hope for all those disappointed fans, they will get a rescheduled concert. Rerscheduling must be very difficult, if you look at the amount of days needed per stadium and how difficult it was to plan this tour anyway... Curious what happens...

Depending on what kind of Back surgery he had from what kind of Back pain he was suffering from, which sounds to me like he had herniated Disc problems going on from reading an article on another site that he once took 12 injections in one sitting, it is very possible that the whole U.S. leg could be cancelled altogether. You have preseason Football starting in August which means they return to camp end of July, Baseball schdelues are not going to change to allow the band to fit their dates in & in order to set up the stage they need a 3 day window & we don't know the extent of his injuries or if his back is in a progressive state where it can get worse & worse fast.
