Ali Tells of Support for Bono
By Jenny Friel
Bono's wife Ali Hewson has told how she is 100 per cent behind her husband's rock band.
She said: "I think they deserve the recognition they get and it makes me very proud.
"They're four great guys and they've probably spent more time together than I have with Bono.
"We joke at home that they're basically married to each other at this stage."
Ali told the RTE guide she isn't shocked that U2 is still one of the world's biggest rock groups.
She said: "When you see the drive they have and love for what they do and the commitment they have for each other, it doesn't surprise me at all."
Ali, 42, admitted it took her a while before she learned to appreciate U2's music
She said: 'I grew up with Frank Sinatra and it has taken me a long time to get to a place where I really enjoy their music.
"I think I enjoy it more and more now. I particularly like it live."
A FULL version of the interview is in the RTE Guide on sale today.
