Patti Smith opens for U2 tonight here. The punk goddess was on her way to fly to Africa last month, when Michael Stipe asked if she'd drop by the Garden to meet a couple of fans from Dublin. Bono was so taken with her that he fused snatches of her "Rock 'n' Roll N—" into "Vertigo" and Patti's "People Have the Power" into "Bad." Look for a duet this evening, when Bono salutes the 30th anniversary of her "Horses" …

Nope.... Bad was definately the closer. Although I'd have loved to have ended the evening with MLK.

Just back home from NY & the 11/21 show... didn't get a decent close-up of the boys, but I do have this little memento.

I'm hoping for repeat (with pics!! ) in Charlotte!
