To me the line is brilliant. I know it is hated around here, but to me it is full of irony, sarcasm and fun - but more seriously: Humility and devotion.

I agree wholeheartedly. It comes across as defiant and subversive somehow...pretty powerful for just dropping a word. To those who dislike it, it got us talking and analyzing so that's something (at least).

Unlike GOYB, I think people are going to come around to this one. It has a great hook and the Edge vocals part is so good.

We got spoiled by The Blackout.

I've only listened to it twice, once on low volume in the shower and once on the Metro. Admittedly, I was in a pretty crappy mood this morning as well.

I'm in a much better mood now, so maybe when I leave work at the end of the day pure unadulterated pop will sound better to my ears.

One thing some of you need to avoid, though, is playing it so many times that you force your brain to like it. That's not a song being a "grower." That's Stockholm syndrome.

The line grates on me like REM's "leaving was never my proud."

I don't care what it means, but say something that makes a lick of grammatical sense.

Lol. Give it a chance. though.

I will try to hate it again.

If you have an Amazon Echo, ask Alexa to play the song of the day :)

There's also a new promo image of the band presumably from the Corbin shoot for Joshua Tree tour:

And the song is up to #25 in the US on iTunes' top song list.

Listening to your favorite band's song over and over is what fans do. It's a good line above-- but it's bogus.

I can' listen to Get On Your Boots for 100 years and never say it's a grower.

But I think the point was more the group think syndrome when I you know some shitty music and shitty tv shows and Oscar nominated movies are bad -- but 1 big time reviewer says it's "great" and the sheep follow afraid to admit they didn't like a movie, a song or a TV show.

So far I loved the D J mix more -- but this song has 3 or 4 amazing parts. I just don't know if they flow together and shouldn't be in 3 separate songs.

NEW FUN GAME TIME:

The Best Thing About Me -- My small penis

?

Rephrase, please.

If you don't like it try a good set headphones and focus on the drumming and bass and ignore Bono. Also helps to listen to the sci-fi soul mix.

I lost the sci-fi mix page. Bueller?

I would say it's a minor miracle that Noisy Vice wrote something positive about U2.

Have we finally reached the inevitable point where the backlash against U2 has created a backlash against hating U2?

I know I say to people that I wear my Joshua Tree t-shirt now like I used to wear Dead Kennedys shirts in my youth...I know it is going to piss people off. Being into U2 and being vocal about it is almost punk rock (not the music, the attitude). They have become such a hipster hate trigger that it has become fun to say "fuck you" and rock the JT wear.

But, if I am feeling that, others are as well. The U2 backlash off the iTunes thing was so over the top and absurd. And Bono was hated for being earnest and a bit arrogant while helping people?

I wouldn't be surprised if the "Hate U2" thing hasn't become so entrenched in the popular culture that it has created a place where the contrarian feels comfortable saying "I like them".

This song is better than The Blackout.

You ever move somewhere new or start a new job...and then when it's over and you move on...you look back and see that someone you liked right away you wound up despising...and realizing that they were never there for you? At the same time, you look back and think of someone you immediately disliked...but they wound up treating you better in the long run than the person you liked right away?

Maybe that's how The Best Thing and The Blackout will be.

Am I spouting madness?!

This song is not going to be a u2 favorite for me but I'm actually digging it! It felt weird to me this morning but I'm comming around to it nicely the drums are awesome on this. I still think I like the blackout better but I like this more than the miracle for sure.

This makes sense and would be a welcome shift!

I'll say this for it, its insanely catchy and the melody is most definitely stuck in my head.

Re the U2 hating, most of it is Bono hating. Always has been and always will.

Apart from the whole SOI/iTunes thing which people are still going on about on social media.
