SOE 22 - 2018 it is... (it isn't)

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
So you delivered a pizza to him, and we're suppose to believe he's just telling anyone who asks about the album  yeah, that's usually how it works. I tell my Chinese delivery guy all my inside trade secrets because no one has social media and I'm pretty new to the scene.

Haha it wasn't exactly a pizza [emoji23] well it's better than nothing I suppose, it's been pretty quiet for a few weeks now.

At the same time if it was coming out this year I don't think he would have told me [emoji23]

I just don't buy it. Likely misdirection or stale news from someone in the know earlier in the year. There's just too much chatter and buzz about new music and the I+e tour resuming to think the album (or at least something new) won't be out later this year.
Agreed.

Wow, posting some obviously old info (lol, the reason we're getting JT30 is because SOE isn't ready yet? welcome to 7 months ago!) and then throwing your source under the bus.

Poor form!

his just runs against what nearly all other sources, including the band, have said over the past 2 months. It also discounts teased album art, filmed videos, and scheduled release dates.

Not to mention they are almost regularly playing "The Little Things", which on several occasions Bono has said is the last song on their next album.

They just shot 2 videos too!!!

The only thing up for debate at this point are the dates in 2017.

The rumored single date of 9/8 is too far out from the rumored album date of 12/1(80+ days is a long run way unless 2 singles of course).

I think the 9/8 date is correct and the album date is actually in November, before Thanksgiving.

I don't think they'd be doing press listening parties of nearly the entire album if it wasn't coming out within the next few months.

Sorry to our new forum insider, but I just don't buy it.

Same source that told you about R&H remaster coming out end of year?

So you delivered a pizza to him, and we're suppose to believe he's just telling anyone who asks about the album  yeah, that's usually how it works. I tell my Chinese delivery guy all my inside trade secrets because no one has social media and I'm pretty new to the scene.

:applaud:

i'm just going to assume that you delivered him a giant sack of cocaine and he did a tester bump and started rambling.

Well it was after his show this morning and he wasn't too keen on waiting around chatting to me! Pleased I managed to get an answer though

If and a big IF this is true I could see them still releasing a double single (blackout/best thing) similar to what a lot of artists do to test the waters with new material. I am confident we will at least get that this year and still am in the 2017 album release crowd.

We won't know anything until September, either way. U2 have gone into hibernation mode. That's why the videos were filmed BEFORE the break... BREAK MEANS BREAK!

We won't hear anything until the Detroit show. And even then, we may still hear nothing.

Retirement it is

Unless the band really puss out, the album is coming out this year, or very least we're getting the singles soon and the album release is just a formality. Makes sense to release it before holidays if to maximize the sales.

I would be surprised if Bono blasts any songs from his house.

I am curious to hear descriptions of the songs once U2 give the blessing to talk about the album to those that have heard it.

Wasn't it Chris Evans saying SOE was done last December, and that Bono had told him so?

Last time I visited there as genuine optimism that it would be this year after videos had been shot etc, now it's all gone quiet? And Chris Evans is telling the milkman it's not coming out?

U2 average an album roughly every 4 years over the last 25 years.

We haven't had 3 years since the last one yet - what's the panic?

Didn't you hear? We were PROMISED one! So it seems we should all be terribly, awfully, super upset if we don't get it. And the band will be super-ashamed of themselves and will be a laughing stock because they promised us one and didn't give it to us. You know. That's how things work.

To be fair it wouldn't surprise me if they actually didn't care about what everyone else thinks. They have broken promises regarding album release dates as far back as NLOH as far as I can remember, probably further for the more experienced supporters.

It honestly wouldn't surprise me if they have indeed pushed it back to 2018 as Chris Evans told me this morning. We've had the Joshua Tree Tour 2017 and a special re issue release of The Joshua Tree Super Deluxe....

It makes sense now to release the NEW record next year in 2018..... as painful as that sounds
