SOE 22 - 2018 it is... (it isn't)

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I'm hoping the September new single rumors are true. The Little Things is a good song, I'm looking forward to hearing more from the new album.

I don't think this is s false alarm this time. Videos are shot, press listening parties are done, and the band are finally saying "this year". Sept is going to be fun!

Lol the wait is long :) but yes time to enjoy August! Not much enjoyment for me cos of work lol but there is an eclipse comming up I'm looking forward to! Anyway I know this is happenning I'm on the camp now that 2017 it is for sure! But I find it odd that the single is comming (sept 8 most likely) but yet u2 has made no official single announcement on exact date and exact name of single. You would think they would want to drum up the interest and intecipation ahead of the single. But don't get me wrong I do also believe the single will be out in September! Now just waiting for the odd leak or beach clip. I remember loving the 30 second clips they released of each song before ATYCLB came out!

that time we thought that SOE would come out a year after SOI....wow that was so wrong.
The only reason people might have believed it was because of that "70% finished" soundbyte from Adam but I'm not sure many wholeheartedly believed that. I realistically thought late 2016 at the time.

That time was different though as others have mentioned. Now we know they did video shoots, there have been listening parties, some people have heard the entire album (some DJ), u2 have played the little things and have mentioned that the album is practically done. We are getting a new album this year. Only thing that could change that is if they totally get cold feet or some tragedy happens. The album is in the bag otherwise.

Yo, there were people who thought there'd be a three month turn around from SOI. I distinctly remember people thinking the tour announcement was going to coincide with the album release. Maybe not a common opinion, but it was definitely out there.

Naming it the 'Innocence & Experience' tour indicates a quick followup.

If the Apple release has gone down better, I'd wager we would have seen it sooner.

Great shout, I think you could be right

I think most of us were expecting 18 months to coincide with a continuing leg. I think you're right, the release probably had a big part to do with it, but at the end of the day, three years is still a fairly quick follow up for bands of this tenure, especially U2.

We're going to get three separate tours (knock on wood) in 2015, 2017, and 2018. Three tours with three different setlists. That is freaking glorious coming from U2 at this point.

And yet to reach Australia ?

Songs of Experience is NOT coming out this year. Heard this today face to face with a reliable source who we all know.

I was told no new album in 2017, band were not happy with it so that's why we have JT30 this year. It makes realistic sense to be honest.

Don't really want to say too much in case he gets into trouble but if you want to know more PM me

Unless your source is The Edge and he articulated a very recent change of heart, I wouldn't believe them.

Not discounting you at all, but this just runs against what nearly all other sources, including the band, have said over the past 2 months. It also discounts teased album art, filmed videos, and scheduled release dates. That would piss promoters off mightily, though obviously U2 are not the average ticket and heavens knows they've done it before.

Unless something changed over the past week, like a health issue with the band or bad reception in the listening sessions (which is the opposite of the chatter) this seems quite a detour.

Same source that told you about R&H remaster coming out end of year?

That was my exact thought process when I heard what I heard.

It was Chris Evans by the way. I deliver to him and his wife. I would say it's a pretty reliable source considering he's a top BBC presenter

I just don't buy it. Likely misdirection or stale news from someone in the know earlier in the year. There's just too much chatter and buzz about new music and the I+e tour resuming to think the album (or at least something new) won't be out later this year.

Nope that was a joke, but I don't want to the boy who cried wolf here. The source today is genuine, I wouldn't have named dropped otherwise

So you delivered a pizza to him, and we're suppose to believe he's just telling anyone who asks about the album  yeah, that's usually how it works. I tell my Chinese delivery guy all my inside trade secrets because no one has social media and I'm pretty new to the scene.
