But we always lose to Richmond late in the season, even if Travis's comment is otherwise wrong (look at our recent victories over Collingwood and Port - we've got better at the end of this season after bottoming out mid-year).

Let's choose a more specific metric for this. "Late in the season" is a bit vague.

In the last five games they played each year from 2010-2013 (the years I've been following AFL), they amassed a combined 5-15 record. A couple of those teams were finals contenders! They certainly do have had a tendency to tail off in recent years.

Currently, they're 0-2 out of their last 5 with three games remaining, making them 5-17 during that stretch since 2010 (I'm guessing they'll win at least two more this season, so that number will likely improve).

Probably the best win of the six-in-a-row last night, because with all the talk of finals, we were never going to be a chance if we didn't defeat Essendon. Gordon was exceptional in the second half last night.

Doesn't get much easier though. Unpredictable Adelaide away, and Sydney away in the final round. Should beat St Kilda, so that match against Adelaide is shaping up as an elimination final of sorts, possibly for both teams.

I saw a bit of Gordon in the SANFL last year and I always felt that he at least had the potential to be a good AFL player, even if even then he went missing on the field. Has got talent.
