War Child
I think there will be no more delay news from the band from now on. Next announcement will be that album is finally COMPLETED with either a Title or Release date...They're not talking which is a good sign.
One good thing that came out of the Millie Jackson album cover...it got me reminiscing about Betty Wright's Tonight Is The Night (with live monologue) and that's the gooood shit right there..
Nope.
As ridiculous as some of the arguments that have taken place have been, at least they were arguing over... something.
The thread has now turned into the posting of random album covers for little to no reason. Only another leak pun thread could be lower than this.
I've been enjoying the album covers, actually a bit more than the usual arguments that happen here.
Let's get back to the Bicycle topic shall we ?
I'll try to get us somewhat back on track by posting my theory that the delays will make this a no-win situation for U2.
No matter what they release now it'll be shrouded in verbiage about the delays and rumoured unhappiness with the material. And the net result is likely to be "we waited this long for this?" even if it really is good stuff.
My point - the bad that comes from delays far outweighs the good. Although perhaps it's just that I don't have the same confidence that others do that songs are improved a lot by tweaking. I think you either have good root material or you don't.
I'd like to point out 2 different possible-causes for the delay of the album...of course there could be thousands of reasons, but I'm just gonna speculate over these 2...
- Possible cause 1:
The final tracklist is done, but they are working on: tweaking, additional production of a selected 3 or 4 songs viewed by the band as possible singles, micro-analysis of hooks for world-domination.
- Possible cause 2:
The final tracklist WAS done but they decided that 3 or 4 songs fall on the category of "filler songs" and they want to get rid of them and include 3 or 4 newer-fresher songs that improve the whole album-experience of listening to the 10 songs in order.
In my opinion neither of the 2 options are bad unless they mess with the flow of the album, as it happended with the trinity of evil-songs that they forced into NLOTH.
All in all, I feel confident that the band knows better than anyone what's at stake with this new album and they will deliver the magic pretty soon.

That optimism is a ray of light Reg Seriously, this London session seemed to have a certain continuity. They were finally reported to be in the same city for about 1 month. Epworth's sessions may have been fine-tuning touches. As well as it could be that work may go on 'through' Summer.
Who remembers which month HTDAAB was finished? We may see a similar scene, just that.
I see your Millie Jackson and raise you THIS:

Don't forget "Love Stinks" and "Muffle That Fart"...Aptly titled for the album
Let's get back to the Bicycle topic shall we ?
I woke up this morning with a bad hangover
And my penis was missing again
This happens all the time
It's detachable
This comes in handy a lot of the time
I can leave it home when I think it's going to get me in trouble
Or I can rent it out when I don't need it
But now and then I go to a party
Get drunk
And the next the morning, I can't for the life of me
Remember what I did with it
First I looked around my apartment
And I couldn't find it
So I called up the place where the party was
They hadn't seen it either
I asked them to check the medicine cabinet
'Cause for some reason I leave it there sometimes
But not this time
So I told them if it pops up to let me know
I called a few people who were at the party
But they were no help either
I was starting to get desperate
I really don't like being without my penis for too long
It makes me feel like less of a man
And I really hate to having to sit down
Every time I take a leak
After a few hours of searching the house
And calling everyone I could think of
I was starting to get very depressed
So I went to the Kiev and ate breakfast
Then as I walked down Second Avenue toward St. Mark's Place
Where all those people sell used books and other junk on the street
I saw my penis lying on a blanket next to a broken toaster oven
Some guy was selling it
I had to buy it off him
He wanted 22 bucks but I talked him down to 17
I took it home, washed it off
And put it back on
I was happy again, complete
People sometimes tell me
I should get it permanently attached but I don't know
Even though sometimes it's a pain in the ass
I like having a detachable penis
Detachable penis
