Bon Jovi's output through 2000 was pretty consistently good, particularly in the 90's. Their output since Crush has been very hit and miss, with a lot more misses than hits. Their latest record is pretty fucking awful, not even a mere shadow of the band they used to be.

I hope U2 don't think they have a chance of getting a number 1 single anymore, or even top 10 for that matter.

I also have a soft spot for Bon Jovi, right up to and including the Crush album. I nearly went to their concert in Columbus earlier this year, but after looking at the setlist, I'm glad I chose not to. Too many new songs, with a few 80s hits sprinkled in. They seem particularly proud of their "country era" songs, featured on 2005's Have a Nice Day and the entirety of 2007s Lost Highway, which I really don't care for. I like some country music, but leave it to the real country artists!

I mere five months ago, who'd have thunk that by the time November rolled round, we'd be discussing the merits of Bon Jovi in the new album thread? Oh, and

And by this time next November we should be talking about how boring the setlists are and how the album wasn't a return to form after all, how Edge definitely wasn't on fire and just his much like your man from the Script Bono now looks like. Keep the faith people......

(I quite liked that album, love the bass line on the title track)

I think we can all agree that we'd rather be talking about a new U2 record than Bon Jovi, if only they'd give us a damn thing to talk about. Instead we've got to hold on to what we've got.

90s

Bon Jovi - Blaze of Glory
PM Dawn - Set Adrift On A Memory Bliss
Sir Mix-a-lot - baby's got back
Tupac - How Do You Want It/California Love
Blackstreet - No Diggity

The 90s were way better than the 80s, but the hit songs are all terrible! There are only five that I like.

I think I disagree with every single word of this. (j/k, except I think the 80s is better)

I'm assuming that we're using the Billboard Hot100 as a baseline? (List of Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles of the 1990s - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Sinead O'Connor - Nothing Compares 2 U
James Ingram - I Don't Have The Heart
Bryan Adams - Everything I Do
Boyz II Men - End of The Road
Whitney Houston - I Will Always Love You
Janet Jackson - That's The Way Love Goes
R Kelly - Bump N Grind
Boyz II Men - I'll Make Love To You
TLC - Creep
TLC - Waterfalls
Prince - Cream
Montell Jordan - This Is How We Do It
Madonna - Justify My Love
Mariah Carey / Boyz II Men - One Sweet Day *longest #1, and deservedly so*
Bone Thugs Harmony - Crossroads
Notorious B.I.G. - Hypnotize
Mariah Carey - Fantasy (RIP ODB :| )
Puff Daddy/Mase - Mo Money Mo Problems
Savage Garden - Truly Madly Deeply
Usher - Nice And Slow
TLC - No Scrubs
K-Ci & JoJo - All My Life
Next - Too Close
TLC - Unpretty

All excellent contenders for my top 5. I like the songs you listed but with the exception of PM Dawn, which I can never get sick of (which is mainly because of the Spandau Ballet memories), the rest were overplayed imo (and yeah so are most of the ones on the list above lol).

Man the 90s really were dominated by RnB on the pop charts. Especially my favorite, slow jams, which are pretty much a lost art nowadays. Crazy to look at it all on a list. Mariah Carey, while not a personal favorite, really ruled the charts.

Listening to Bon Jovi These Days is like driving down a Lost Highway but then again Who Says You can't Go Home because This Is Our House and even tough we're Living In Sin which to most people we're Misunderstood and what it comes down to is we're in this Dead or Alive, I'd like to Make A Memory One Wild Night. Have A Nice Day. :D

That was so bad it was a shot to the heart. And you're to blame.

I hate to say this, because I know non U2 fans that say this about U2, but all the Bon Jovi songs sound the same or VERY similiar to me. I enjoyed "It's My Life" back in the 80's when it was called "Livin On A Prayer"! I know they have diehard fans like U2, so there seems to be something there that people are in to, but I personally do not get it. The last Bon Jovi recording I bought was Slippery When Wet and it was..........on cassette................when it was released. Yes, I'm old! ;)

Absolutely. The only one worth owning start to finish, imo. And yeah, I had it on cassette (and still have on vinyl) too! lol

TLC were pretty great. I'm especially fond of their spot as dancers in Whitney's cover of I'm Every Woman. Did boys have a favorite member the way girls do for boy bands?

Good question. I think that was the appeal for me with TLC. Sure there would be a guy's favorite, but with them I had a really hard time picking - at any given moment I really dug one or all of them. I guess that's what made them so popular: something for everyone (both sexes, I mean probably most girls loved one more than the other at any given moment for what they represented to them as females, I'd imagine also?)

I never bought a Bon Jovi anything but was dragged to see them on the tour from Slippery When Wet album by my then girlfriend - I had long hair but NOT a mullet!

I bought it because I liked one song "Raise Your Hands". Back then I would buy just about anything if I even semi liked anything I heard in the hopes that I would like the rest of the album. Needless to say the cassette did not see a lot of rotation in my car, home stereo or walkman!!
