The National are a great band we should keep discussing.

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

I am 100% indifferent as to whether or not there is screaming in songs, I just want them to be good.

I just want them to give it some variety. The National are good at many things and High Violet felt a bit homogeneous to me.

I've heard the live versions of the new songs (once, and never again - I don't want to make the In Rainbows mistake ever again) and it sounded promising.

Ugh.
Introducing BOSTON CALLING! Bostons newest music festival taking place at City Hall Plaza! May 25: Fun., The Shins, Marina and the Diamonds, Matt and Kim, Portugal. The Man, Cults, MS MR, St. Lucia, Bad Rabbits May 26: The National, Young the Giant, Of Monsters and Men, Andrew Bird, Dirty Projectors, Ra Ra Riot, The Walkmen, Youth Lagoon, Caspian

Horrible.

Because the shins and the national are playing on opposite days, and aside from the 25% of the bands I've never heard, the only other thing on there I like is one Walkmen song.

Youth Lagoon is streaming on NPR right now as a matter of fact. Think I'll give it a listen.

 I will also. The debut was kinda boring, but mostly because it was one of those zero-ambition indie albums recorded in a bedroom. With better production, I felt he had potential.

Here are some of your whiteboard rumored track titles, courtesy of the band's Instagram:

Slipped
Graceless
I Should Live in (???)
Grease Babies
Sympathizers
Spit in My Coke
I Need My Girl
Dead Seriously
Tunnel Vision
Tina's Eyes Are Yellow
This Is the Last Time
Hard to Find
Demons
Pink Rabbits

There's also a list with a ton of names, one of which is Rylan, which was a track they played on tour. It seems that they just named all the demos with names and have gotten around to re-naming most of the tracks by this point. WHO KNOWS, THOUGH.

The National Announce Sixth Album, Trouble Will Find Me | News | Pitchfork

The National have announced details of their sixth studio album: Trouble Will Find Me is out on May 20 via 4AD (May 21 in North America). The album was recorded at Clubhouse in Rhinebeck, NY, and was self-produced, with mixing by Craig Silvey, Peter Katis, and Marcus Paquin. That's the artwork above. The album will be released digitally, on CD, 180gm vinyl, and in a limited edition deluxe boxed vinyl set. It follows 2010's High Violet.

In a release, frontman Matt Berninger writes:

"For the past 10 years we'd been chasing something, wanting to prove something. And this chase was about trying to disprove our own insecurities. After touring High Violet, I think we felt like we'd finally gotten there. Now we could relax-- not in terms of our own expectations but we didn't have to prove our identity any longer."

Aaron Dessner, the band's guitarist, said "our ideas would immediately click with each other. It's free-wheeling again. The songs on one level are our most complex, and on another they're our most simple and human. It just feels like we've embraced the chemistry we have."

Check out the tracklist below, followed by the National's current touring schedule, and videos of the band performing new songs at December's ATP festival. The National are also the subject of a forthcoming documentary by Matt's brother, Tom Berninger.
