I wish I had more negative ratings in my RYM account. But seriously, I've got to be pretty damn bored or irritated to give an album anything in the two range.

I'm sort of confused by this... you wish you'd listened to more bad music than you have? Or you wish you'd rated things worse?

I wish I were more critical is more the thing.

Like Axver, I do occasionally listen to shitty music just because.

The fact that this picture is as old as I am depresses me a little.

But holy crap. I still can't believe he's only 12 in this picture. /fangirl

I couldn't figure out who I was supposed to be looking for in this pic, because I thought tre was a girl :reject:

That's alright. Everybody looks androgynous at 12 and he likes looking like a girl, anyway.

I still need to think of a good idea for the Green Day shirt. I'm gonna slideshow my photobucket and see if anything good comes to mind.

When it comes to being more critical, sometimes I wonder if I'm missing some kind of critical faculty when I go to live music. I always see people slagging off bands, both support bands for being shite and headliners for lacking this, that, or the other. Me? Honestly, out of the 187 bands I saw last year, I imagine at least 150-160 of them I'd be happy to see again. Not saying I'd pay to see all of them again, but if they came up on a bill I wouldn't complain. I can only think of seven bands I saw last year who were so bad that I'd make a point of avoiding them in future, even if the rest of a gig's lineup was good.

Feel free to ignore this, or weigh in. I'm just thinking out loud, so to speak.

Checked out what the official Green Day store had in the ways of t-shirt designs, just to see what was there. Nothin' but boring 21st Century Breakdown stuff and some old designs from Dookie and Nimrod. Excellent. Looked through part of my photobucket, too.

No ideas forming quite yet, other than doing something geographical, like a signpost with directionals for places they mention in their songs like Christie Road, East 12th Street, Stuart & The Avenue, that sort of thing, with the actual distances from, say, their recording studio on The Embarcadero. Or a map of the East Bay with those places noted. Or one of my Agitprop-style posters. Kinda meh on that idea. Unless I did four of them, but that would mean I'd have to include Jason White, and I don't consider him a member of Green Day, no matter what Billie Joe says. Another idea I had was to look through all my 1970's punk records and make like an album cover in that style of them, but use a picture of them that shows how ridiculously un-punk they are for it.

:hmm: Still thinking.

You masochists, you... :tsk:

I've never been very critical... if I like something, great - if I don't like it, fine. If anyone's missing some critical faculty, it's me rather than Ax.

Is it more like a stage show than just a gig of them playing random funny songs? At any rate, we've got Neon Indian on the 24th, and we might want a break from gigs on the 23rd ... we're going to two of the East's last shows on the 20th and 22nd, and then, one way or another, we'll be going to at least two shows in the 25th-29th period too. :crack:

I'll certainly consider it. I'm stepping up my comedy festival this year. Usually go to two or three shows but I'm thinking five or six this year. David O'Doherty will definitely be one of them and I'm gonna pick a random one that sounds good to try something new.

But "nagging bitch"?!! You better not post that in B&C. Boycott Tripod! The misogynists!

Always loved this.

I get the feeling there's sort of a narrative element, yeah... Fair enough, that's a full gig calendar! I was thinking about farewelling the East too... :(

I really should go to more stuff at the Comedy Festival ... I just remember last year finding the website a trial to wade through to find anything that I knew.

We've got four gigs so far at the East through February. Yuck and EMA on the 3rd, three of Triple J Unearthed's most successful finds (Northeast Party House, Nantes, Millions) on the 17th, La Dispute on the 20th, and five Wireless Records bands at their send-off on the 22nd (three of which I've seen before). Contemplating Chairlift on 07/02 if they are good at Laneway. The East now has the run from 17/02 to 25/02 completely booked except for the 21st ... but no announcements yet for the four very last days. Bit frustrating for us because there are gigs on the 28th and 29th elsewhere that we want to buy tickets for, but are worried about a clash with something amazing at the East.

I really like the sign post idea.

Did you put that Adam icon on this post deliberately? :giggle:

No :lmao:

I'm sipping champagne after making a semi-fancy dinner and watching football. What a wonderful night.

I like it, too. Have it be chronological, so the places in 39/Smooth are at the top and the ones mentioned in American Idiot are at the bottom. I actually have an old notebook that had those places listed down cause I was obsessed with text adventure games for a while and I was going to create a Green Day one. Don't ask. So yeah, have places mentioned in the songs, but also, like, Spy Rock Road, Adrienne's hometown, Oklahoma City (BJ's mom's hometown), Pinole High School, Cafe Med... Should I have, like, the three of them in silhouette at the bottom looking up at it? :hmm: And the background. Crap, I wish I could draw like Bonnie. i think it'd look really cool if it looked like it was hand-drawn with colored pencils in a sepia tone family.

HA, I didn't even notice the adam icon. That's awesome.

At what point does champagne go nasty? We've had an unopened bottle in the back of our fridge for four years now.

Unopened? It'll be fine.

I'm really tempted to crack it and have some bubbly. But I know I'll only want the one drink and be done. And then it's a waste of a free bottle of champagne we've had in the back of the fridge for four years.

Yaaay. Signs and distances figured out (for the most part). Now comes crushing my CPU drawing in 3D in photoshop.

yeah, got busy with t-shirting and forgot. maybe another night.

Switchrum, the chamagne's gone. Hopefully I don't get sick to my stomach from switching alcohol.

I hope you are still here Ashley because we';re getting drunk. But yopu probleably aren't. :( :(
