Nine Inch Nails covering Zoo Station...:drool: Biggest surprise by far. I knew that Trent did that Vertigo remix in 2004, but I wouldn't think he's a fan of Achtung Baby. But, if there is one U2 song that is slightly reminiscent of NIN, it's Zoo Station.

They could put Shania Twain covering the other 11 songs and I'd still be happy with this. That said, Patti Smith, Depeche Mode and Jack White are all pretty cool. I could care less about the others.

Thank God they didn't bring out Black Eyed Peas though.

That's probably the one I'm the least suprised about...

Well, I didn't mean it so much from the artist point of view, but rather that a well-known band was putting their spin on it. Granted, I didn't know there would be this many famous names participating, as the only act I'm not familiar with off-hand was Glasvegas. But I am pretty excited to hear this now!

The Killers covering Ultraviolet seems perfect, actually. And I'm really excited to hear Jack White cover LIB. I think that could potentially be incredible.

If this was posted already I missed it, but Gavin Friday doing The Fly ought to be good.

The full track listing for AHK-toong BAY-bi Covered is as follows:

Nine Inch Nails - Zoo Station
U2 (Jacques Lu Cont Mix) - Even Better Than The Real Thing
Damien Rice - One
Patti Smith - Until The End Of The World
Garbage - Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses
Depeche Mode - So Cruel
Snow Patrol - Mysterious Ways
The Fray - Trying To Throw Your Arms Around The World
Gavin Friday - The Fly
The Killers - Ultraviolet (Light My Way)
Glasvegas - Acrobat
Jack White - Love Is Blindness

Q 'releasing' U2 Achtung Baby covers album feat. Jack White, Patti Smith, Nine Inch Nails, Killers & more... - News - QTheMusic.com

Wow, interesting choices, excited about that album

Killers are perfect, I love Snow Patrol, not sure about Glasvegas, but I'll judge when I hear it. I don't know the Fray, only by name.

And thank God no Coldplay.

Can't wait to lay my hands on this thing.

I really wish Glasvegas didn't cover Acrobat, cos that's one of my favorite album tracks of all time (not just U2, any album). I really don't want Glasvegas' stench anywhere near it.
All the other artists I'm fine with. Hoping for a Jack White guitar solo on LIB that blows the roof off.

Glasvegas, The Fray and Snow Patrol.

Most of the others sound promising, especially Jack White.

I'm looking forward to hearing Glasvegas' cover of Acrobat. I have their first album and saw them open for U2 in cardiff, but still haven't really got into them. But it's still an interesting choice of band to cover that track and obviously won't knock it til I hear it.

Snow Patrol though.............:crack:

Interesting choices, looking forward to hearing it soon. However, Glasvegas doing Acrobat? One of the best songs on Achtung Baby will now be ruined, in my opinion.

wow. there seems to be a lotta hate for glasvegas over here. never heard anything by them. and goin by the general consensus on blue crack i guess i shudn't seek to change that lol

Stay away, stay far away. unless you enjoy having your ears and eyes bleed.

No really, I don't actually know how they sound in the studio. But live, they were the worst opener I've ever seen. Not just musically, which was just bland and boring, but their lead singer.. well.. let's just say his ego is at least 100 times Bono's ego, and he thinks he's hot. And... showcases how much he loves himself on stage. It's disgusting. And nauseating.

\I'm not sure how I feel about Jack White doing LiB. That's always been Edge's solo. I know Jack White will play it amazingly.... but I feel like that about how a lot would feel about One... NO ONE should cover certain things. And no matter how amazing of a guitarist he is... he's a pretty damn horrendous singer.

oh crap...I didn't even think about the solo! I was focusing on how he would sing it but it never occurred to me that he would be playing *the* solo. :yikes:

I'm looking forward to hearing everyone's versions but this could possibly be a one time listen for me for all of the songs....

I also have trepidation about Jack White's vocals on LIB, but would like to hear the solo...

Not sure about matching MW with Snow Patrol, they don't strike me as a band having the beats for that...

On paper, UV is a perfect fit for the Killers, also am looking forward to hearing what Depeche Mode does with their tune. Despite the almost universal hatred for Glasvegas, I think Acrobat could be a good fit with them... :reject:

I agree. After watching him with Edge and Jimmy Page in the guitar documentary I feel like he's a bit self-absorbed and he might not respect the fact that he's standing on the shoulders of giants.

That solo is Edge's voice. Most people listen to U2 hearing Bono's voice and not wanting to hear anyone else sing instead of him... so that's why the LiB solo, to me, is going to be hard to listen to played by anyone else.

The first Glasvegas album is really good. Except when they decide to cover Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata and read bad poetry over it. It certainly takes a special amount of egotism to think, "hey, ya know what, Beethoven got so close to making it perfect, but I bet we can improve upon it."

The 2nd album is rubbish. Especially the final track where the singer's mom talks to her "little boy being scared" over some piano piece. Un-fucking-believable.
