I have tattoos on the insides of both wrists. The one on the right was done by an older artist in Hawaii who bore down so hard which is why it hurt (but I didn't cry :sexywink:) The one on my left wrist hurt only when the artist got close to my hand/palm. This tattoo is positioned closer to my hand than the Hawaiian flower on the right wrist. I love this tattoo artist to death, he's done several tats for me but this one area on my wrist was pretty hurty-it's also over veins. He tried to be careful and as much as it hurt it healed nicely.

I know people who have ankle tattoos of all kinds and sizes, some say it hurt and some say it wasn't bad. Some had swelling after the work was done and the ankle was very sore but everyone healed well and have lovely artwork to show off on their ankle areas. I think every person and every tattoo is different. People have varying degrees of pain tolerance or what they even consider sensitive or painful. A tattoo experience is really an intimate, personal thing.

just got this done yesterday.. its my first tattoo and it took 3 hours :)
i'm really happy with how it turned out.

yup. took about 3 hours. by the end of it i was like "i'm never getting tattooed ever again!!" but i think that feeling has passed

Hahaha yep, exactly what I said after my 3 hour one. That's pretty cool looking.

*edit found the answer lol.

I've pretty much decided for sure that I want a tattoo next year. I'm thinking of getting the BD dove with "I found grace inside a sound" between my shoulder blades. I'm still waffling because I'm a wimp when it comes to pain, but I've had that idea in my head for awhile, and I can't let go of it.

That sounds really nice. You are ready if you know where you want it and exactly what you want. The rest will be much easier than you think. The "pain" is a good pain. Don't drink alcohol or take aspirin before your appointment though. Good luck and come back with photos when you get the tat!

Hello, i am tossing up between two tattoos that the moment...am not sure which to go for first.

I want the number 5 because its my favourite number, and my month of birth but not sure where to get it. I am thinking front of my left shoulder sort of whhere the bra strap goes?

The other tattoo is a lily of the valley with colour.

and that on my right shoulder at the back, or possibly on my left wrist.

Do you think i should get the number 5 first, as it will be black and quite small, just to test the waters, then try for the lily of the valley afterwards?

Anyone know of a good tattoo place in London? :)

I would get them both at the same time. Most places have a minimum that you have to pay no matter how small the tattoo. So say you only want that 5 but it could cost you a lot of money as most shops have a 'base price'. If that makes sense. I dont know if its the same in London though.

hey guys, I have a couple U2 related tattoos myself! I'm thinking about finally finishing off my back soon, but am trying to think of the right lyric! The image will be something related to the Chicago skyline or some sort of building.... I want it to relate to the Eiffel tower tattoo and I also work an an architecture firm so buildings are my passion!

Just got this son of a bitch on my leg.. front side back views. It's a cover up of one of my old sun tattoos.

My ankle is ridiculously swollen though. Anyone else with big leg/ankle tats that caused a massive amount of swelling?

 one of my ankle tats made my leg swell. i remember too i was trying so hard to keep it dry and of course we had tons of rain. i could see the water getting coloured from the ink and i got sooo scared it was going to be ruined. :reject:

The tattoo guy and my other friend that does tats keep telling me its normal with leg/ankle tats because of all the pressure you put on your leg/foot all day but ugh still cant help but be a little concerned. Today its a little less swollen so hopefully just a couple more days till its back to normal and I can enjoy my tat lol.

I see some things I think need to be touched up/corrected when the swelling stops & my skin heals, but I'm generally happy with this. Just wish I could stop seeing images & saying to myself, "Ooh - I should have done so-and-so" or "Why didn't I do it such-and-such way?" Guess that's just human nature... :reject:

i've got a tiny one on the back of my shoulder blade, a single forget-me-not, in memory of my mother (her favourite type of flower - she had loads growing in her garden), and designed by daughter when she was teeny tiny! the tattoo lady was wonderful and did it exactly how my daughter drew and coloured it, i love it... i want to do another one done from a drawing my son did when he was also tiny, of a little rhino (his fave animal when he was younger) so i have something special drawn on me by both my kids... not sure where it would go though, maybe on my hip perhaps... ouch lol

my daughter is really proud of it, even though i had it done quite a few years ago now she still describes it as "her" tattoo...

my son is a teenager now and isn't interested in anything remotely sentimental at all - he basically says "meh whatever" about most things these days lol, but it's more of a sentimental mum thing for me really... i want to get it done at a certain tattoo shop in the UK, so i will have to wait a while til i can get over there... i think he will be quietly pleased about it underneath... although he will probably now think his rhino drawing is silly and babyish and will try to talk me into getting a "Slipknot" tattoo instead ha ;)

Just got a new one yesterday! So, so many fine lines. Two and a half hour session with mainly a single needle. Fucking ouch. Incredibly worth it though, if I may say so.

This one makes it look a little distorted because my leg was on the ground, but it's the clearest full-on photo:
