Is there anyone who has already seen a 360 show that has tickets for another one and is still excited?

I'm definitely looking into selling the ones I have for the two Los Angeles shows.

Fuck this band. How anyone can defend this pathetic display of indecision is beyond me.

i'm not overly excited right now... i'm sure i'll get excited as the show gets close, but if it's the same old boring setlist they've been trotting out there for 2 years now, i'll likely gripe about it the next day.

i don't even care if it's a greatest hits tour. i'm fine with that. but mix the shit up. to come back 2 years later with a show that's 90% the same as the last time would be incredibly lame.

I saw more than 10 new pages so I thought there was finally gonna be some good news and then I see this...

It doesn't exactly surprise me but I'm still disappointed especially because I know they can still make awesome music (see MOS, Fez, NLOTH...) but they just seem too scared to release it.

You are lucky to get to see them twice,we are not getting any shows in the UK.

Were you equally pissed when McG announced No Line for October 2008?

Not remotely because they were honest about it and we knew it wouldn't be too much longer. It was Edge's vagueness and apparent apathy that bugged me this morning - to be fair though I guess he probably is emotionally exhausted from all the Spiderman toils.

I've seen 360 one time.I'd die to have another opportunity.

I'm not angry, mildly disappointed perhaps - but this is expected, so it's tough to really say I'm disappointed. Though, with McGuinness in on saying something would be out, it's, well, more curious than anything that they wouldn't release something.

Still very much so looking forward to seeing them this summer - they're still my favorite band, put on an excellent live show, and who knows when the next time they'll be touring is.

I remember Bono once agreeing with a quote "in the middle of a contradiction, that's the place to be". Well I guess all he needs to do now is sit between Edge and McGuinness in a Mercedes and he's right there

The way they're always chasing hits reminds me of the fat balding mid 50 year old who gets his ear pierced and a sports car because he wants to hold onto his youth. Just let it go.

or ... or ... and this is just food for thought, they've realize they've become this, and the new album perhaps sounds a bit like old guys trying to be hip to the kids.

so they finish out the tour as a final "biggest band ev-a!" hurrah, tear it up at Glastonbury, and go back into the studio and the next album is ... "mature."

maybe?

I wonder if they're really gonna drop Danger Mouse and just work with Eno/Lanois/Lillywhite again.

No wonder, after the reception of NLOTH. (I love it! I'm really sad they dropped most of the songs from the tour)For them it was trying something new, making music they like, not repeating themselves. Releasing a single with enthusiasm after the succsess of vertigo, but for some reason it did'nt work.Everybody whined.Makes you careful.

It's unlikely that the Rick Rubin stuff and DM sessions will ever see the light of day. As we speak, they are locking that stuff up in their deepest, darkest vault at U2 Castle. But if they ever were released (maybe their respective estates will do an Anthology type deal 30 years from now) i'm 100% certain it would show an abundance of more creativity, ambition, vision and balls than HTDAAB and NLOTH and the next studio album will

Jesus, people are actually surprised/angry.

Do you know who this is? This is U2.

Anything's possible, let's hope this is the case - they stepped back, realised they had songs produced by will.i.am and RedOne, and said "Guys what the fuck are we doing? We should be leading the path of music, not hitching a ride on it!" And have decided to make something groundbreaking in a properly committed atmosphere without tour or spiderman distractions.

However, going on recent trends (ceasing to play NLOTH songs, no fourth single, calling the album "too dark" because it didn't sell well, whilst saying that they want the next album to have lots of hits), it's far more likely that they looked at the songs they had, believed that they couldn't possibly be hits, and decided to scrap the material, and work with Eno/Lanois/Lillywhite again.

E, L +L won't necessarily bring about another NLOTH-style debacle - i think the reason that album flopped was because it didn't have a clear direction - started off as an experiment, ended up needing hits, came out as a compromise that satisfied neither criteria. So as long as they have a clear purpose, they're probably very capable of getting hits (AND songs we all love) out of their usual squad.
And i don't think that's a bad thing - it wasn't Eno or Lanois who wanted songs like GOYB on the album, it wasn't even u2 really, it was more of a panic (i'm guessing). And judging by NLOTH's reception, if they do work with the usual guys, it will be more focused and less contrived, which will mean less GOYB, and more BD/One (hopefully). The only downside with this is the wait!

I think the only solution to this is for them to release stuff for us die-hard fans as the "Larry Mullen Band" and put all the aim-for-chart-glory pop ring-toney Gaga-producery, JayZ-pleasing not too challenging stuff out as U2, or vice-versa.

I really missed their genius experimental side (to give a clue I find Passengers to be a great driving album, I loved Pop, and I bought all the 80s and 90s singles cos I loved the b-sides) during the early 2000s. Then when NLOTH came along I thought great - something fresh sounding. To think we have to miss out on that genius in the name of attempting chart-domination is very sad. I think they genuinely believe it when they talk about being very limited musicians when in fact they are gifted but just don't seem to have the confidence to push.

What happened to Boy Falls From The Sky - I was there in Coimbra when it was played and it sounded great. But since then they have played shows in Rome, Australia, NZ, South Africa and it has never appeared again. Of course people aren't going to go ecstatic over it on first listen (U2 songs are never like that) but they should keep with it. To think that crowds just want to hear the same old songs is a bit sad and slightly patronising (but probably for the most part true). However the crowd response to any live song is almost always proportional to their familiarity with it - and if you don't give them a chance it won't work. BFFTS is a brilliant rock song that could become a crowd favourite I'm sure.

Do not become the world's biggest jukebox guys.

Guys, are we really surprised? U2 have done this before. "We have an album ready for release… Wait, no we don't (HTDAAB)." "Our album is done… Just kidding (NLOTH)."

I'm disappointed in U2 for being gutless, disorganized, indecisive, and for wanting too desperately to please the mainstream.

As I've said before, sometimes U2 act like they are geniuses in an ivory tower and all of us are supposed to wait patiently for them to take their sweet time preparing their next masterpiece; they know we're all going to snap it up because they're U2, so it doesn't matter how long it takes. Never mind that they've been playing new songs on tour, which now feels like they were just dangling carrots in front of us to keep us interested and to distract people from the supposed failure of NLOTH. It almost makes me want to boo if they play a new song when I see them in May, but I know I won't actually do that.

One day, they're going to have a huge pile of unreleased songs, and then they'll realize that they're in their 80s already and they've been sitting on all this material for no reason; but they're too old to tour and all their fans lost interest 20 years ago because they were always too cautious to release anything new.

After spending about $550 on non-refundable airline tickets to Miami, the NA tour was then postponed. New dates were announced, and I had to decide, do I book flights for another $550? News and/or rumors (McG pretty much said it was a done deal) of a new album makes the decision an easy one....................HELL YES!! Now I get to see the same show I saw on the first leg minus Unforgettable Fire, Ultraviolet, and Unknown Caller, three of the highlights in my mind. Not a great day to be a U2 fan.

Maybe, maybe not. We'll probably never know what could have been. It's not like these 'demos' will ever see the light of day. I'm sure Danger Mouse would have helped them craft some beautiful songs.

Maybe Lillywhite came in around January and February and convinced them not to release whatever they put together.

"Not jangly enough!"

Here's Edge's quote, which sounds really familiar:

"Bono's been talking about different projects and they're all still kind of alive. We're not ready to commit to one particular direction, but we've so much new material. And when the dust settles and we're off the road, I think we're gonna give ourselves a couple weeks and sit back and figure it all out and decide which way we're gonna go." Later he adds, "We're enjoying that moment where things haven't fully come into focus and we could take it in a number of different directions."

The band said almost this same thing when NLOTH was being made.

So maybe this fall, as per usual U2 releases? Even if the AB remaster comes out at the same time period, there could be one in October and the other at Christmas.

I doubt it.

I guess when he referred to their work with DM as demos he was being misquoted. They were nothing more then demos.

To make matters worse, they're likely going to return to the U.S. with this Greatest Hits bullshit that've they've been doing for the last leg. Who other than lowest-common-denominator fans and people who have never been to a show wants to see that?

And as someone who isn't excited about any of the newer songs debuted, there isn't much for me here. Sorry, but as great as this band is I don't care to hear the same old, same old, especially when they dropped a bunch of great material from No Line.
