I wonder how they are going to cleverly incorporate the title into a song:

ie Reckoner for the mentioning of "In Rainbows"

and 2+2=5 for "Hail to the Thief"

Poop jokes in both a Radiohead thread and in a new-U2-album thread tonight!

THE FORUM IS UNITED AT LAST.

maybe this'll be the record Thom starts "singing" again.

interesting that Radiohead appear to be pretty much the only other band who can generate the sort of interest U2 do on these boards.

I hope there's something as incredible as Weird Fishes.

At one point there was no Bang and Clatter, but there was a Radiohead subforum. :shh:

really? i remember when i first joined if you scrolled down to the bottom of the page it had links to Radiohead and R.E.M. forums. i remember because i joined the R.E.M. forum under the name :) (seriously) to find out the name of one of their more recent hits at the time (turned out to be Imitation of Life, a great song).

So why is it referred to as "Newspaper Album"?

I think for the most part we'll have to wait until the physical copies are shipped to really find out, but they said:

Many large sheets of artwork, 625 tiny pieces of artwork and a full-colour piece of oxo-degradeable plastic to hold it all together.

So maybe the artwork is going to look like a newspaper? Be designed like a newspaper?

I don't know.

It's all very British.

After more than a solid month of dreary gray skies, short days of low-hanging sun, sheets of ice, and feet of snow, welcome news comes of the new Radiohead record in the middle of February. I am certain we will soon be casting the gloom aside and welcoming an early spring to the sounds of some light, uptempo, danceable numbers.

Sarcasm aside, I have my Saturday in order. If the download is available early enough, I'll spend my day on the beach (65 degrees forecast with sun) absorbing some new and presumably stunning music. That will be a very good day.

And Kid A is cleverly in Kid A!!!
The words "Kid A" are actually the first lyrics on the entire album. Listen carefully to the left channel near the beginning of "Everything In Its Right Place".

Personally, I'm guessing that the "purpose-built record sleeves" will be made out of recycled newspapers. Some of the small pieces of artwork could be reproductions of newspaper clippings, as well.

I kind of hate you.

I think I noticed that on October 2nd, 2000. I was referring to the fact that Kid A and The Bends titles are not marginally clever considering they have songs with the exact same titles, so there's always the possibility of that. Or as Laz mentioned, the title may be completely unassociated, as they've done that before too. It's not as if the band always does the same thing.

If you try and play WAV files in iTunes, it automatically converts them to MP3. So unless you have another player that will play WAV files, you might as well get MP3s.

I know this is from several pages back, but iTunes and iPod are both capable of playing uncompressed WAV files, not that anyone could tell the difference using earbuds.

I ordered the WAV files in lieu of buying a CD. I'll probably burn a CD for the car and listen to the lossless files on my computer. I have an outboard USB DAC and Audio-Technica studio monitors that I use for "serious listening."

So I really want info on what time the downloads will be up on Saturday, as I will stay up to very strange times to hear this when it's uploaded if necessary. Really looking forward to listening to this at the same time and discussing it with everyone here.

It was 2 AM EST for In Rainbows. Since it's the start of the weekend, I'm definitely alright with that.
