Another poster is reporting this rumor here.

ETA: Wait a minute, that's you, digitize! So which is it? "100% accurate" source, or "way too big" stadium? :)

Oh I say! I started a rumour today that was already 100% accurate last week! Go me and my crystal balls!

Won't happen. Our stadium seats over 100,000. Way too big.

Austin is kinda centered inbetween Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio and with it being almost two years since the dallas and houston shows, perhaps one show at the Texas Memorial Stadium (100,119) could sell well? If not, would the stage fit in the Alamodome (65,000) in San Antonio? They could probably sell that stadium out.

I was being entirely sarcastic in that original post.

I don't think one show at Royal-Memorial would come even close to selling out. Maybe if there hadn't have been shows in Houston and Dallas last year.

There's no way the claw would fit in the Alamodome. Also, I believe the audio quality for concerts in there is supposed to be horrendous.

Maybe they can play Sun Bowl Stadium in El Paso. U2 have played there before I think.

But El Paso isn't a huge city, and it's a ten hour drive through nothingness to Austin, the next closest city in Texas.

I don't think Texas will be getting any shows in 2011.

I guess we'll just start taking bets as to what will be announced each week until they get to the Dublin announcement, which theoretically should be the last one.

Baltimore area radio station 103.1 WRNR just said they would announce the U2 Baltimore details on Monday

No surprises there. Guess that will mean no South American announcement either.

Shall we start a new rumour that South America will be announced on Monday the 8th?

But the Claw fit inside Cowboys Stadium (without the pylon at least). I wasn't at the Houston show, but I heard that both the Claw and the pylon fit inside Reliant Stadium just fine.

Holy Shit! Let it be New Orleans! :hyper:
I'll be there for work the week between Mexico City and Denver.

Why haven't U2 been back to the Big Easy yet? (Not counting the SuperBowl.)

But then you'd be at the concert thinking, "Wow, I bet this would be awesome if I still had a face."

The one per week deal seems to be for North American shows only.

It didn't stop U2 from announcing the South African shows, so there's no reason to think they wouldn't announce the South American shows too.

(Note: I'm not saying they WILL announce the South American shows, I'm just saying that a Baltimore announcement wouldn't stop them.)

That's a good point. Well then, let's hope we do finally get the South American announcement next week. I'm sick of waiting for it, and I'm not even going! I feel for the people who are going and have been teased by rumours of an announcement for literally months.

The other question is, just how long will they keep announcing one North American city per week? It occurs to me that shows can fill in the following gaps:

15 May, Mexico City --> 21 May, Denver
7 June, Oakland --> 17 June, Anaheim (you could actually fit TWO cities in this gap)
18 June, Anaheim --> 26 June, East Lansing (almost certainly to be filled by Baltimore)
14 June, Philadelphia --> 20 June, New York

If there are shows to fill all those gaps, this could drag on into late November. Hell, it's even possible to fit a show in between 24 May, Salt Lake City and 29 May, Winnipeg, but unlikely given they seem to want at least two full rest days between different cities (only Montreal II and Toronto have just one full rest day in between).

When it all comes down there are only two gaps in the schedule. I don't see the band playing anything between Mexico and Denver. Phoenix? No.

Between Anaheim and Oakland there's a gab of 10 days, but I don't think there's any other city but Las Vegas that could get a show there.

I expected add. shows for Texas and Atlanta but now I suppose it's all about Boston. (Baltimore is for sure) Will they put Boston in between NYC and Philly or as the very last show after Pittsburgh or will they really skip Boston?

Are there any festivals in California between 7th and 17th June?

Pardon my ignorance please! But when / where are Bonaroo and Burning Man? They're the only two US festivals I can think of right now!

The Alamodome is significantly smaller than both Cowboys and Reliant.

I smell a Portland rumor.

 why not?
