Don't play with our emotions!!!

Could you imagine if someone heard them rehearsing MOFO for real!!:faint:

14 days of rehersing time is pretty alot

This really is a long time. I don't think they've spent so much time rehearsing for the Zooropa tour in Rotterdam in 1993 for example... That was the longest break between tour legs until now if I'm not mistaken...

Gives me a tiny bit of hope they'll really mix up the setlist.

*squealing with delight*
Rehearsal time!! Fill me in, please! I moved and had to go w/out my cable, internet and phone for two whole weeks! (*insert cable grumbles here*)

So yeah, I know all about the rescheduled NA dates (June 26th baby!!! Can't wait!!:hyper:), but other than that, I'm behind completely. Help!! :reject:

Except it's going to be 10 days at most.

That was the longest planned gap, then there was eight months between the fourth and fifth legs of Vertigo. This gap has only just been a bit longer than Vertigo - it'll be 9 months and 9 days.

As it happens, this morning I wrote a piece on the rarity of lengthy mid-tour rehearsals (it was meant to be a single paragraph in today's Turin update, and then I suddenly had more material than I expected): The rarity of extended mid-tour rehearsals - U2gigs.com

I am a newbie, so I wasn't familiar with that thread. That sucks that you knew they rehearsed it and they didn't play it!:|

There's some debate whether they actually rehearsed it that day or not. Weird rehearsal rumors will always fly around during active tour legs. Get ready for a wild ride.

Drea and Sarah and I and a couple of others heard them rehearse that and Discotheque in Toronto last tour. :) That was the day between the first and second Toronto shows. They ended up playing Discotheque at the fourth TO show, but they never did play Mofo. Mofo sounded a lot more rough and less show-ready than Discotheque did.

Judging by the latest webcam photo, I think the center pylon has... uhh... penetrated... but I can't be sure.

they rehearsed Mofo and Velvet Dress a lot through that fall. The intention was for them to be ready for that run of NYC shows, but it never came to fruition.

I think they were also considering a "PopCore" of Mofo->Disco->Velvet Dress for the fourth leg at some point.
I was outside Giants Stadium for the soundcheck that day and MOFO was NOT played.

The mystery, it has been solved!

Did they? I'm pretty sure that was the first instance of them rehearsing it that tour, and I know they played Discotheque again a few days later in Chicago (I was there, too). I don't remember hearing about any other rehearsals of Mofo after that, but it was 5 yrs ago, and it could have slipped my mind. :)

Well we also know it was rehearsed on the Vertigo tour, and they picked Discotheque instead. Then again, they rehearsed I Will Follow and Drowning man this tour and they haven't appeared in the set either. I guess you can never be sure.

Wish I could join the setlist part. Kinda hard when you're having a birthday party in your house though. I'm sure my guests wouldn't mind me being on the computer the whole time. Ah well, if there's a feed it's going on the stereo soundsystem though!

Yeah, but at least we got to hear them from outside the stadium a year ago today. I've been listening to that boot a lot this past week. What an awesome show, Stay with the crowd singing until the beginning of UC, Bad, WOWY you with the Shine like Stars verse. It was such a great show!!!

They were looking at doing this but it was because they were considering coming back and playing stadiums in N. America in the spring/summer 2006 at that time and wanted to change the show somewhat if they did. They decided not to come back obviously and the rehearsal of these songs promptly ceased.

Also, Edge did not think Disco worked well and/or was not enjoying it with the tour. That is a major reason it was not done again on the third leg. They continued to rehearse a shorter version though even after it was last played in Chicago. Bono is the one that ended the Pop Muzik intro to it in Chicago, said it didn't work and told the crew to turn it off. So no Pop Muzik intro for it in Chicago in 2005 for the one time it was played there on Vertigo. It is interesting though because they also worked on Daddy's Gonna Pay For Your Crashed Car, but it only ended up being snippeted during The Fly at that show. U2 definately were thinking creatively during that time frame, just not a ton materialized from it in the actual shows.
