:grumpy:

I hope they're expecting some annoyed emails. Had I ordered it with their "oops" the first time, I would have shrugged and said "oh well." But for them to make the same mistake twice? They should expect some irritated feedback to come their way.

I think the One >Amazing Grace/WTSHNN > Ultraviolet > WOWY > MoS is one of the best stretches of music in any U2 concert. I could watch that segment over and over and over again without getting tired of it. Plus, the fact that those are my Top 5 favorite U2 songs (not in that specific order though) helped a lot. I love love love this DVD.

It's INSANE how good that five-song (six?) stretch is! Bono perched on the drumkit, lording over the band and over the largest single-headliner concert in U.S. history, during Streets, is just ridiculously bad-ass.

The encore of:

-Ultraviolet
-WOWY
-MOS

might be the greatest U2 encore ever......:reject:
Personally, I'd replace WOWY with Discotheque, Mofo, or something else along those lines...but I will agree that it's a damn good encore as it is.

 That is possibly the greatest shot of the DVD, next the the Claw lighting up at that first Edge riff in Magnificent. Awesome. (and the third candidate for best shot of the DVD is during Crazy tonight, they the Claw is shown, and the US flag looks like a part of the structure for a minute...and a helicopter looks small next to it all)

Not sure I can pick a "best song" - at first it was Crazy tonight/Ultraviolet and NLOTH, but MW, Streets, I still haven't found... all come close.

Love the camera they put on the lit-up wheel during Ultraviolet.

I've seen the dvd 3 times now and it's awesome. Moment Of Surrender is their best closer since Love is Blindness.

It's funny how much people are suddenly starting to appreciate One again after this DVD.

Yes! I loved that bit, too. I like it when they congregate together on the stage, coming together as a band.

As much as I was drooling over Ultraviolet and the wheel mic, I was also laughing at Bono's dancing. :yikes: I hadn't noticed that during the shows I'd seen.

Did they do band intros on this tour or is Rose Bowl the exception ?

I don't remember seeing it at the show I attended - and if I remember right they only did band intros on Elevation tour.

I think they did the intros at all or most of the 360 shows?

I was surprised Bono did them as early in the show as he did with the Rose Bowl. I thought usually they came later.

It's been mentioned already, on this very page, but.....

My favorite part of the DVD happens to be the same moment I'd mentioned to others as my favorites from being at the shows themselves:

Bono, on the speakers, as the band play Streets. As much fun as the big stages/productions can be, my favorite moments typically involve the 4 of them in closer proximity, doing what they've always done best: be a band playing a great song.

To be sure, the rest of the DVD has its strengths and certainly its flaws, but that's my favorite image. Also, that little shot of Bono as he tacks on the God's Country lyrics to Beautiful Day made me smile.

So, overall, I enjoyed it, wish the Blu-Ray looked a little more like some of my better looking Blu-Rays but I understand the technical reasons for this not being the case.

Glad others are enjoying it, too!

Vegas (360 Show) had a very cool band introduction that night.

The shot of Bono on top of the speakers behind Larry during Streets as Adam and Edge walk closer to the drums and the camera pans behind them to show the massive sea of people is just a jaw-dropping moment in the concert. And then right after that you get the amazingness that is Ultraviolet? That entire moment is the reason this DVD is amazing and why U2 is the greatest band of all time.

LOL : Edge elegantly dodging the wheel mic during Ultraviolet.

Did you guys notice Larry also looking over his shoulder like he was ready to flinch when it swung back towards Bono.

Was it me or did Bono give Larry extra props during this show and what was the thumb sucking baby cry about during BD? Did you notice that?
Funny! Inside joke probably.

Did they leave Bono's orgasm sounds in during In A Little While?

There's a few little "ohs" and groans before Mysterious Ways. I don't recall hearing anything unholy during IALW.

I was impressed. Bono's voice was a little tired in places though not nearly as bad as some have been making out. I loved the version of Beautiful Day- perhaps the best rendition of the song on live DVDs yet. Streets sounded great, as did TUF and Until The End Of World. Even One didn't sound quite as bad as usual.

Agree.

Especially about Beautiful Day!

Much better version than anything I can pull off the top of my head from Vertigo or 360.

Bono was having nowhere near as much trouble as I thought when I first watched the show on youtube.

Agreed. A lot of people said they seemed to be having an off night after watching the show online. Certainly can't see any hints of that on this DVD.

So, now I've finally watched the entire concert! I'm impressed by the editing and the sound, and the performance is mostly pretty good. However, I thought this version of Streets was the worst one in any U2 DVD. Sure, he sings it 1/2 note higher than on every other tour except for Vertigo, but he sounded pretty weak compared to most other versions I've heard. He tried to do another Slane Castle in the beginning but didn't quite make it IMO, and on Vertigo he at least sang the high "All I can do"-note. Here he doesn't even try.

Can't remember who posted this, but earlier in the thread one of the audiophiles said that some of the vocals have been re-touched for the DVD, and that sounds right to me. The vocals on the DVD sound leaps and bounds better than the youtube broadcast. If it's true, I think it's great that they did it. All that really matters to me is how it sounds when I'm sitting at home on my sofa!

^true. Also, the youtube broadcast wasnt exactly in the highest quality, so there may have been far less retouching than people think.

Well, Live Nation super deluxe purchasers, we might expect a cancellation email soon. The charge that was put on my credit card last week has now suddenly disappeared...:|

Oh no. :(

Not sure if this means anything, but I paid via Pay Pal, and it says that the order is still pending.

I don't doubt that there was some post-production sound tweaking going on, maybe even some full-blown editing. As LyricalDrug said, this doesn't matter one bit to me. However...

I seem to recall someone saying at the time of the You Tube broadcast, when the sound (and Bono's voice) was noticeably wonky at times that the sound we heard on the broadcast was through the stadium monitors and speakers, which come with all the inherent distortion and other yucky sounds that you sometimes get in stadiums. This person said that the sound we'd hear on the dvd would be soundboard quality, so, it would be a great deal better.

Does anyone remember someone saying something to this effect? I haven't made it all up, have I? :uhoh:

Maybe people were burnt out from sitting in the sun all day for the GA line.

I know I was there from 6am until showtime and it kind of sapped my energy.

Yep, I can vouch for this. By the time U2 hit the stage, I was wishing I had a seat!!!

So, has anyone compared the blu-ray quality to regular DVD (watching on a LCD or Plasma) of this show? I have an really good upconverting to 1080i dvd player. I am wondering if there is much difference with a blu-ray...
