not a AAA member, but i went ahead and advanced booked/prepaid at $108/night...$250 total when you throw in taxes.

Just got set up for two nights at the Hilton Garden Inn Anaheim/Garden Grove bidding on Priceline at $45 a night for a total including tax/charges of $109. Was hoping to get the Marriott Suites but nevermind - not bad for the price!

Staying in Anaheim you get charged a resort tax or something like that. basically you're paying more for being near Disneyland.

One of my favorite pubs is across the street. That's where I'll be... :sexywink:

Most of that is a room tax, not anything we locals pay unless we stay in a hotel room.

Exactly. Every state sticks it to tourists and business travelers. Who's going to complain when car rental or hotel taxes get raised? Generally only the industry, not the actual consumer.

So, any guesses how much smaller the GA will be for Angel's Stadium?

For out of town people who want to stay in the Disneyland/Anaheim resort area and won't have access to a car, there is a bus service that serves the hotels and all of the touristy type places, including Angel Stadium.

Anaheim Resort Transit

The smart rental...2-bedroom suite..two separate rooms, queen beds plus a sofa sleeper in the general area AND complete kitchen for $144 a night AAA rate...you can put 8 or more in that room!

do they charge you upfront for the rooms? I'm not decided yet on going but want to book somewhere just in case. I didn't want to pay cancellation penalties or have them charge me a night 8 months in advance though.
Thanks for the hotel research!

We recognized that during our canvass....that might be a great party house and it is within walking distance for troopers...

Anaheim has a hotel tax of 15%.

Neighboring Santa Ana (Orange County's most populated city) has a hotel tax of 10%.

The Towne Suites doesn't. You have to give them a credit card number to hold the room and I think you have until the day of arrival to cancel without a penalty.

i'm still thinking they are going to set up those protective plates in the infield instead of roping the whole thing off. they can always remove the pitchers mound and put it back together when the angels come back.

been googling and looking for anything to support my hunch, but haven't found anything.

Here's a pic of the field I took on a field trip a few years ago. Where will the Claw be located?

Does this help?

They will not let anyone stand on the infield grass, covered or not. Period.

They might let people stand on the area of the infield dirt if it has a protective covering.

The pitcher's mound in Anaheim sinks (it's on hydraulics), but, either way, no one will be allowed on the infield grass.

Considering u2.com sent the email for last week's presales two days after they had already started, I'm not relying on them at all.

Because of Anaheim's odd outfield configuration (the bullpens in left field, the rockpile/hitter's eye in center field, and the high wall in right field), it wouldn't surprise me if the claw were built either in straightaway left field or straightaway right field.

Plus, they would lose the whole 360 concept if they put it in straightaway center field (since there are no seats there).

I hope we find out BEFORE tickets go on sale.

FWIW, the Zoo TV stage was placed in right field.
