Please vote for your LEAST FAVOURITE song.

Welcome to the sixth and last early 1980s quarter final in Best Song Survivor! The object of this game is to find Interference's favourite U2 song. To do so, songs will be eliminated album-by-album in 24 hour long rounds to leave the favourites to contest a final that will determine the very favourite. The top five quarter finalists proceed to the semi-final. Only original U2 songs with official studio releases will compete. Due to dominating past tournaments and the inevitable likelihood that they will do the same this time, Where The Streets Have No Name and One are not in the tournament and can be assumed default equal #1 over and above the ultimate winner.

In the previous round, Tomorrow was eliminated. After this round, the five remaining songs will proceed to the eighties semi-final, where they will meet the top seven songs from the late eighties.

ELIMINATED SONGS
11. A Celebration
10. 11 O'clock Tick Tock
9. Seconds
8. Like A Song
7. Tomorrow

LAST ROUND'S RESULTS
29 votes: Tomorrow
17: I Will Follow
7: The Electric Co., Sunday Bloody Sunday
5: Out Of Control
4: Gloria
1: New Year's Day

Sunday Bloody Sunday really shouldn't still be here. I'd much rather IWF make the semis instead of SBS.

hmm, not sure, I think SBS has more to offer than IWF. Electric Co or NYD to win though, New Years Day is one of those songs that just never fails for me, love to hear it live!!

I find SBS to have a fairly underwhelming studio version. And the violins! I give the violins a hearty WTF.

I love the studio SBS. Fuck, even if the live versions are generally better, it's STILL a great song in the studio. You guys and your crazy talk!

... uh, IWF.

Go away IWF.

I can't see a U2 "best of" poll without SBS. Call it a signature song, or a tired warhorse, but not much says "U2" like SBS.

Just curious about the One/Streets thing...I know One has done well in these before, but I really don't think it would win against these other songs. I can see WTSHNN as a default #1, but I get the sense people are a bit over One. I know I liked it when I first bought AB, but for me The Fly >>>>>>> One.

Last time we ran this tournament, One not only beat Streets in the grand final, it beat Streets convincingly.

Hmm that surprises me. I don't personally know a single U2 fan who thinks One is their best song. I suppose "oh it's so moving ooh ooh ooh" yea I could see it winning pity.

I really like the violins :reject:,

I do too, sometimes. Ever heard that version of Bad with the violin?

I Will Follow.

Sunday Bloody Sunday is fantastic. A U2 classic by every definition, even on the album. It's one of the songs that got me into the band, and I still love it.

When I started posting here, all people ever talked about in this forum was One...

I Will Follow incidentally.

I swear, nobody here knew what The Electric Co. was until the Vertigo Tour...strange how much that album/track have gone up in everybody's estimation thanks to the Boy mini-sets.

I'm referring to The Electric Co. often winning Boy polls and the album it's from finishing ahead of War here in our rankings....it was well behind back in 2002 when I did a bunch of album polls here. I really think the live reinventions of "An Cat Dubh" and "Electric Co." really had a lot to do with the boost of goodwill towards the debut.

to be honest, i don't remember how it did in polls back then or anything so i'll take your word on it, lol. i've always liked it though...but there's always exceptions to the rule :D
