AtU2 are reporting that it leaked on the 8th on Napster and was available to download all week? If so LOL at the 11 leak threads!

Can this be true?

I honestly don't buy it. Napster's more high profile than GetMusic, and we all spotted the GetMusic leak within the 1-2 hours we needed to download it before it was pulled.

But if it is true, that's just hilariously brilliant.

I guess it was only available on the Napster Mobile Store, this could explain the lack of leak.

NEW @U2 NLOTH LEAKS (AGAIN) ... THIS TIME BY UNIVERSAL AUSTRALIA
February 17, 2009

For the second time this month, an online music store has started prematurely selling No Line On The Horizon. This time, the Universal Music Australia store has made the entire album available as digital downloads, and fans all over the world are buying it up, putting it on file sharing sites, and sending it to friends. The album's out there now; no turning back. Update: Universal Australia is no longer selling the album; it was available for about 1-2 hours.

Little did anyone know that NLOTH was also available on the Napster Mobile online store. An @U2 reader found it and bought the album on February 8th; it was available all last week, and finally removed yesterday (Feb. 16).

Wow, good to know that @U2 reader kept it all to him/herself.

Napster Mobile must have like zero users. I do believe it could have been sitting there a week.....totally lame that the fan didn't tell others about the leak though. Just hording it for themselves so they could feel special.

Yeah, i wondered about that too. Selfish bastard!!! hahaha, maybe I'd done the same thing myself hehehehe. Good thing is we have it now, and it is good, and the itunes tracks are still to come, as well as Linear.

And a Tour!!!! A motherfucking tour!!!!

I almost feel bad for Universal, they came so close to completely preventing the leak... and then they leak it themselves.

If true, this is pretty shocking. That would have made my weekend a good deal more enjoyable and I'd have been able to listen about 25 times without interruption. As it stands, I've only had 2 full listens and now I'm at work.

Yeah fair play to them, to keep it to one week is great if i'm honest. Things are improving for them, but it is fascinating how opening the floodgates for just an hour or so is enough for it to proliferate right across the web.

Technology, eh?

Would you mind explaining exactly what happened? I woke up and my first thought was only about procuring the music, so I haven't even heard the story.

haha napster leaks a u2 album and still nobody pays attention to them

fail

is news of the leak in any other news outlets yet, outside the U2 fan base?

i haven't found anything about it yet...

Can someone give me a play by play of how it went down?

I've spent too much time in here over the last week not to hear this :)

Some guy, on his first post, showed up and posted a link to some music store saying that there were 1 minute longer prieviews there. We all went semi-bananas and started to hear. Then someone, out of the blue, said "Hey, I'm buying the songs. They're downloading!" And we all melted. :D:D

Haha, that's awesome! Thanks for filling me in. Good thing someone decided to try and buy them...

I was going to start a new thread about the leak, but this seems more or less the same topic...

So, does anyone think there's a chance that this leak was calculated, like Universal knew that a leak was eminent so they decided to leak it themselves (and collect a few bucks while they could). I even wonder if they tried to leak it through Napster Mobile and nobody found it.

Anyway, it's either an intentional leak or the biggest screw up of all time.

I've heard rumors that the band is discussing releasing the album on iTunes by midnight tonight to try to contain the damage from the leak.
