the justintv stream was crap, barely saw anything :(

sounded good but :D

youtube anyone? or possibly ysi etc?

They need to release another single stat, this song isn't going to resonate with audiences...the fact that it just bombed live was the final nail in the GOYB coffin.

Musically they sounded good, but Bono seemed to be shouting the lyrics and posturing more than singing, and it hurt the song overall. They've got work to do before the Brit Awards. Once they get this down, though, I think it will be a lot of fun in stadiums. The video backdrop got me thinking about Zoo TV and Popmart

Everyone here is going bananas about the performance, here is what RightTV said:

5:00 U2 is now performing!
What a great way to begin the show

5:01 U2 is the opening act. They are now performing.

5:01 They are performing their new single Get On Your Boots.

5:02 It is the first single from U2's new album No Line On The Horizon
5:03 “‘Get On Your Boots” is written by U2 frontman Bono and produced by Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois.
5:03 They are delivering a stellar performance tonight

5:04 U2 has sold more than 140 million albums worldwide and won seven BRIT Awards and 22 Grammy Awards, more than any other group. (Stevie Wonder, who also has won 22 Grammny Awards, is the solo artist with the most Grammys.)

The thing is... Bono's voice is great. He's just singing the song badly. And the mixing is a joke.

I like how the Edge handled the first round of "Let me in the sound" solo.

And yea, Larry was hitting the living f**k out of the drums! Adam was grooving, Edge seemed a little preoccupied with all the goings-on of performing it for the first time, and Bono was pretty good, not great. Overall, nowhere near the iconic "Please" and "MOFO" awards show performances, but definitely a suitable go at it.

I agree. The sound was bad (Edge's guitar during the chorus should have been much louder), but I really enjoyed the performance. Really happy to see them perform again.

That was cool! Did Edge and Larry trade shirts?

I thought the sound was a little weird; it seemed too quiet. And I wish they had shown more close-ups of Bono with his eyeliner. I thought they would, but they showed him with a bright light behind him and then the back of his head, so we didn't get to see it very well. Maybe that's a complaint better expressed in PLEBA...

couldnt really tell with the compression but i thought it was ok, will wait and give it all my attention tomorrow night when its shown over here.

I tried tuning into the live stream on the grammy website, but it messed up. So much for staying up late to watch it...

My stream started going fuzzy during the song.

The video screen in the background didn't do the performance any favours (and I'm watching in HD)... broadcast HD compression doesn't handle those LED lights very well. The graphics at the start of the song were really cool but putting up the lyrics was kinda lame and an eyesore with the colors they used.

Who ever is directing the show doesn't know what they were doing. They only got one or two close ups of Bono. When you look at Bono from faraway he looks a little silly. And the shots with the lights in the background were also brutal.

I thought it was pretty good, it'll only get better with time. :D Did anyone else catch the ZooTV-esqueness with the screen behind them?

I didn't think it was that bad at all  not sure why so many people hated it. It's one of the earliest performances of their new song, so I don't know how one could expect them to be at the top of their game right away. They have a whole couple months before they even begin to start touring for the new album.
