I voted "I'm not sure" but I actually think its probably false, because

a)It is definately reminiscent of Coldplay
and b) If it was real, it would have dissapeared by now.

But I'm interested in how this turns out :hmm:

It's just the drumming... reminds me of Clocks.

I'm the biggest U2 > Colplay proponent out there, and Coldplay wouldn't sound like Coldplay if it were not for U2.. but still, this tune has shades of that and a little Square One.

Brilliant album does not equal the best of U2 (i.e. Achtung Baby).

Why are you here....we are you a so called FAN? All you are is a whinger!!! I more than anyone want an experimental album (stuff sales) but it AINT going to happen!!

Your a better person than most to be able to tell that 30sec of noise will define an entire 60mins?

According to atU2.com, it's a fake:

NEW @U2 YOUTUBE CLIP = NOT 'GET ON YOUR BOOTS'

This sound clip on YouTube is all the rage right now, but it's not U2's new single. Our friend Skott Bennett, who has already heard the new single, tells us it might be U2, but it's not "Get On Your Boots."

Now back to your regularly scheduled hyperventilating. ;-)

(Sorry if this has been posted somewhere already)

it says it "might be u2", it's just definitely not GOYB.

It's good. But definitely not "U2's best album ever" as according to Eno.

Wha???? How can we judge whether this is U2's best album when all we've heard is a 30 second guitar clip that is quite possibly fake???

Imagine if all we heard on a Bomb 30 second clip was some atmostpheric noises from "One Step Closer"...We can't really judge the whole album on that alone now can we...

Well, whoever the musicians are, have definately done their homework because there are a lot of the little subtle nuances and personality that make U2 sound distinctive.

It's either real or a very well done clip! But one has to wonder why someone would go to that much trouble. I mean, writing the song parts, studying the musicians' style, recording it, and not a cheapass home recording....

I dunno, I would say that I'm leaning on a 75% chance that it IS U2.

That said, I like it, pretty good stuff going on in there!

edit; based on subsequent listens, I lower my prediction to 65% chance that it is U2. That is all!

Yeah I'll admit to that. My bad. No judgment until the real thing is released.

Well, if it changes anyone's opinion, I just listened to the clip three times on my Verizon Wireless song ID, and it couldn't get a match all three times, meaning it isn't in their database...meaning it could very well be a new U2 song.

Verizon Wireless song ID?

Well, I thought it sounded great, but people are saying it's not innovative.

it's software on Verizon phones that listens to any 10 second clip of any song, verifies the song (if it is registered on Rhapsody), and allows you to either download it as an mp3, or if available, a ringtone/ringback. If the song isn't in the database, it comes back as "couldn't find a match".

I'm not sure if it's them or not. The kicker though is how good the quality is, some shitty band wouldn't just post some demo that sounds that good.

The guitar licks are pretty much spot on, but the drums; well sound too active for Larry :reject:

Whatever it is, it isn't bad.

This is the real deal baby. I spoke with The Edge earlier and he confirmed that some basta'd had leaked this track. He ain't pleased and said when he gets his hands on the mofo he's gonna wish he gets his boots on pretty sharpish. Edges words not mine. He must have meant it, he didn't even have his beanie hat on so he was showing his shiny bald head! Rock on Edge!

i read that aswell

I want the drum experts to tell me if those drums are Larry Mullen's or not.

I've been playing drums for 18 years and my initial reaction (could be completly wrong!) was that this was not Larry playing.

This was down to a few reasons particually the snare drum sound which sounds a little heavyer and flatter than a typical U2 sound of late. Saying that, Larry has been using an electric kit on this record....

The fill when the clip fades in sounds like the Foo Fighters, the main beat itself is completly Coldplay and the mini fill on 30 sec sounds like Sean Moore from the Manic Street Preachers!

That's because there's lots of crap in the music industry and if U2 came out with another "back to the basics" album a lot of people would like it over most bands.

Even for most bands that isn't too great IMO, especially not for U2. It almost sounds like the music loops back halfway through.

Someone has mentioned that this is the solo from the following song:-

Restless World by Grand Avenue

Can anyone confirm this?
