[FAKE] 30 second clip of No line on the horizon?

Seconded. If this clip isn't legit, we track down the guys who did this, tie them up, and force them to go on the road as a U2 tribute band.

why does everybody keep saying that this is beach clip 1/possibly unknown caller?

once again: sounds nothing like beach clip 1, i checked like 3 times!

The fact that we do are discussing if this clip is or not fake (because we don't know it's a U2 song) is simply fantastic and I love that feeling.

I really hope it's a clip from NLOH :wave:
 
It's the bass line that's making think it's real...what was it Adam said a long time ago in an interview? "When you're the bass player in U2, you play a lot of 1/8th and 1/16th note strings"?

Definitely a very Adam-like driving, steady bassline in the back.

And to be fair we can't even cancel out it being any of the beach clips... what if they've changed since then? :shrug:

A friend of mine is a friend of Henry Rollins (yeah I know, I know -- the old I know someone who knows someone syndrome :lol: ). Apparently he's a great guy. :yes:

She's also a huge U2 fan, btw.

I agree. It must be NLOTH or Stand Up Comedy. One of the rockers, not Unknown Caller.

It sounds like pure innovation to me. :drool:

I think I might need to listen to it again, this is almost too good to be true.
 
A lie. Because this 30 sec clip sucks. It sounds like a cover band trying to write like U2. It needs to sound like TUF, AB or Zooropa dammit!

Well yeah i agree, they may have changed the song completely!

But assuming for a second that this is real, this clip and beach clip 1 have completely different tempo and rhythm. If it was real and a clip from beach clip 1 then the song wouldnt be recognisable anymore.

well...I love Adam and his basslines, but it's not very hard to do that. Any decent bass player with a good ear can sound like Adam. To come up with brilliant basslines like NYD is another thing, but yeah

anyway, I agree with popacrobat's post. where exactly did this come from, why is it only 30 seconds, and why is it not GOYB when that would be the logical song to leak at all?
 
The more I listen to it, I'm also hearing more and more of what Bill Flanagan described in ATEOTW, how Larry is very precise, and nails each beat right on, militantly, while Adam kind of slides into the last possible moment for each beat...which is part of what creates that full, textured sound to the rhythm section.

I could buy a guitarist managing--after a lot of work--to get his setup sounding a lot like the Edge's, but that specific rapport between the rhythm section...that's a lot harder to duplicate.
 
i think it's fuckin' Magnificent!!! On ly looove!! it's the same chords sequence from the u2.com clip when Edge is playing on an acoustic guitar...
 
I play guitar and I will say one thing. If it is fake, it sounds like whoever is playing guitar might be using the same Herdim guitar picks backwards like Edge. When I listen closely I can hear the bumps from the picks hitting the strings and creating that scratchy sound.
