Who out there are the Youngest and the Oldest U2 Fans?

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

I am very surprised to see so many younger people here (and by this I mean those under 21-22). Most of you were too young to when U2 exploded and I am just surprised to see this many of you listening to and enjoying their music.

I don't really understand that surprise. I know young people who listen to U2 and I know people my age to listen to radio/charts crap and enjoy it. It's not like all young people only listen to current music and bands like U2 is reserved for people 30+. When U2 were formed I was 1 year old, when they reached their peak in the 80s I was too young to understand or like that sort of music, and still I think I qualify as a fan. I've always felt U2 is the most universal band, bringing together all kinds of people, and I always met the most interesting people at U2 concerts.

I think it GREAT to see younger generations appreciating U2 music, in this day in age when most of the young people listen to some crap that IMO should not even get any airplay. So props to all of you and I hope to see many young people on the next tour.

For me it's because my family are so into them - my Granny, who's 64 (oldest fan, I'm thinking  ) was a massive fan when they first started and saw them a few times in Dublin. And it's just sort of filtered through - my Mum likes them, we've always had their music on at home and I suppose I just picked it up like that.
You're right, so many people my age (17/18) listen to absolute shit and I suppose its reassuring that not everyone does :)

18 too....been a fan since 12 or 13.
hahaha me tooo! when i saw my first U2 concert everyone was like so impressed with me it was funny!

 Yeah I miss that!

... next tour, shall we dress up like 10 year olds adge? Cos, you know, that wouldn't be weird :D

Fan since...I don't know...I remember going pick Pop with my Dad...I must have been six years old! I also remember putting it into my brand new C.D player (Big stuff back then)...

and not liking it...

Fan since '85. No way I'm saying how old I am. It's heartbreaking.

Cool pic, Sicy. I noticed whose pic is closest to your pillow.

You still got the t-shirt?

I only turned fourteen early December, so...I'm their with the youngest on interference, I should think.

So proud :D

Very nice. So that would put you in... eighth grade? I was a crazy eighth grader when I became obsessed with U2. Now I'm a crazier 10th grader who is much more obsessed with U2.

the thing is, I can't even recall how my U2 fandom began, it kind of came out of nowhere. The summer after my freshman year in high school, I for some reason bought War listened to hit and was instantly hooked. Three years later still no new album, but I love em more than ever and I hope the new album will make an amazing finish to my years in high school.

I was actually madly in love with Larry. I am more of a Bono girl these days.

And no I dont know what happened to the shirt. :(

I'm 48 and have been a fan ever since I bought an album without hearing it - I thought the name of the band was "boy" and the title "u2". Had a spare couple of bucks and just liked the look of it so bought it. The year... 1980. Glad I did.

49 - bought Boy when it first came out and have been a fan ever since
