The Australian selectors clearly suck, I still Believe Brad Hodge should be in the side, though he doesn't play for NSW so he's got no hope
Seriously though, I think its the selectors fault why Australian cricket is shit at the moment, Cameron White, Krejza and there's a few other batsmen/bowlers that come to mind, that SHOULD have been trialled long ago, and given a more of a shot than just the odd test match.

Yeah, it seems to me that for too long, Australia relied on its tried and tested players without enough in the way of rotation or bringing young blood into the side. I'm hoping it comes back to bite them in a big way.
