Oh some have been speculating for less than that.

This makes me wonder where that newsbit about them scrapping a lot of material was true.

As long as his voice sounds revived i guess I can be ok with waiting til '09. If he sounds like he did on "wave of sorrow" im going to

Any one else thinking that beach clip "only love" is going to wind up being the new "mercy" (left off the album)?

I doubt it if Edge thinks it's one of his great riffs.

That could mean anything though; to Edge an amazing riff is With or Without You. Edge's greatest riff could be two notes over and over again for all we know

The song to me sounds better than Mercy by a country mile. It will be released. If it's skipped to another album because they have so much good material, that would be a cause for celebration.

Listen, I had a feeling they were going to say something one way or the other yesterday. I thought it would be a formal announcement of the album title, single, and tracklisting.
Instead, we get this news. I hope in the end it's for the best.

**However:**

I would not be surprised if last month's beach clips that they were so
"outraged" against us hearing had alot to do with this. I'm telling you, they did it on purpose and are monitoring sites like this for reaction.
Yes, alot of people loved the clips, but alot of people were less than enthused...

I'm going on record saying that it's NO coincedence the timing of the beach clips and now the pushing back of the album.

I disagree with this because I feel like a lot of people were orgasming over the beach clips. I didn't notice a ton of negative reactions. And either way, the jury is out on those songs until we hear them properly. I really think that's reading TOO much into it.

It could be over-reading into it, or it could be true.

They might have ignored all the gushing and cut right to the criticsms....

Which, if I remember correctly, were things along the lines of comparing clip#3 to Vertigo, whcih alot of people were negative about.
Also saying how they didn't sound very innovative, etc. etc.

I don't know, but I'm starting to believe it.........

Look, I'll say this:

if they had 11-12 kick ass tracks that they were completely sold on, we'd be getting an album in November.

This idea of "getting lost in the moment...writing for the sake of writing....the songs keep coming" is crap. We've heard all that before. They simply don't have the songs where they want them yet.

And there is no way in this universe that we'll be getting a double album in the spring; sure, a great idea......but it ain't happenin.....

To be fair, we cannot hear innovation from a beach clip. The innovation would come from the actual crisp clear sounds.

Clip 3 - Get on Your Boots- is in the same vein of Vertigo, sure. It's fast paced with a high BPM, and the verse almost rapping is similar to Vertigo. The riff is badass though (or at least I think so) and the rest of the song really bears no similarity. I guess because it's a bass driven rocker that the comps to Vertigo are inevitable. And is that a bad thing? No. It's just how the song is. They shouldn't go rework that song because a few fans think it's similar to Vertigo.

If they want more songs, and really think they are in a groove, then by all means, please U2, give us more songs. B Sides, EP's, online-only one off singles, etc. Go for it. Just don't keep us waiting past March.

These overproduced criticisms are already out of line. Just because it's being delayed does not equal overproduced. The article clearly states they are writing more songs. That means they are adding, subtracting or tweaking songs. It has nothing to do with the production at all.

Yes, it's true; we won't know if it feels "overproduced" to us until we hear it.

I think though that some people feel a pattern repeating itself....

In your heart of hearts you know thats exactly what whats gonna happen.

I was firmly in the November '08 camp, so well done to everyone saying 2009 :reject:

Double album!?! If they do a double album we'll be lucky to see it in 2009 at all! Look at how long it's taken them to (not) "finish" NLOTH, or whatever it's going to be called. If they start debating 60-odd songs for a double album, then tweaking them, then finishing them, then playing them loudly at their beach houses, then deciding they're not quite happy with them, then tweaking them again, then finishing them...we will end up with U2's Chinese Democracy!!!!!!:down::down:

It's a shame that Danny Lanois seemed so happy with the album they "finished" a couple of months ago, and now they're going to mess around with it. Sorry, it's maybe just the disappointment at the delay, but I actually now feel pessimistic about the whole thing. Crap.

The band just cannot win or do what they want anymore can they?,

seriously, if its released in November then people bitch about how its just being released for christmas sales and they have just sold out bla bla bla,

now the band come out saying they are in a groove and want to carry on writing to see where it takes them, say they are ready for another direction, but right away people start bitching and assuming that its because theres a problem, or they are going to overproduce, rather than just fucking beliving what someone says.

and if i am not mistaken, did the band officially say it was being released in november? no so its not even a delay for gods sake

unreal, totally unreal and now i relise once again why i stopped visiting message boards so much.

I agree with you. I fear they weren't enough satisfied with some tracks.
We still have to wait at least 4-5 months........

How can you be so sure? I'm amused at how fans think they know exactly how a band will operate. We do not know anything!
