You guys are fucking funny. But, yeah, I'm still here. I'm sure the pace of discussion will pick up soon.

Crazy, and I mean CRAZY, things have been known to happen in baseball in the month of June.

I can't wait.

I'm going to see your team tomorrow night. 3rd Sox game of the year, vs. 2 Cub games thus far.

Nice.

I've only made it to one Sox game this year and it was freezing cold and there were maybe 5,000 people in attendance.

I will be watching that game tomorrow from the comfort of my home living room.

Where are you sitting? I'll look for your avatar on TV. Bring a sign or somethin...

I'm not sure where our seats are. I'll bring some sort of interference-related sign and make sure I wind up on TV somehow. :) When in the living fuck is Spring gonna start here????? 60's today, nice day but not that nice.

Dude, didn't you get the memo? 60's is spring! Since school is over on tuesday I'll be getting to many more game now.

my dad had hip replacement surgery at a specialist in chicago a year ago june... he has to go back for a check-up or some shit, and asked if i wanted to tag along and go to a cubs game. he has the tickets, i'm not sure where they are but they're supposedly pretty good ones on the 3rd base line.

i believe we're flying in saturday morning, game sunday, and i'm heading out monday morning to get back to work (and see pearl jam at the garden on that tuesday :hi5: ). i believe the parental units are staying till wednesday.

When you find out where your seats are, let me know. I'll stop by and say "hi".

I'm trying to go to as many games as possible. Having my pass helps a lot. :)

60's is spring, yeah. At least we have weather in the 70's today and tomorrow. Have a BBQ later, it better not rain. Oh, and I've had two softball games rained out already.

i'm going to be really pissed off if willie randolph is managing the mets tomorrow night.

other than 2 wins agains a, let's face it, pretty shitty yankees team, the mets have lost 9 out of their last 11 to the stellar teams from washington, atlanta and colorado. they just gave up 3 hits to a matt holiday-less rockies team, yet still managed to lose 4-1.

this team has no life, they're a sub-.500 team since last year's all-star break, and it's disgusting. fire this douchebag.

While I think Willie's time has probably come I'm not sure where you go for a replacement. IMO that club & clubhouse needs a serious kick in the ass, pity Lou Piniella isn't available. Larry Bowa? Phil Garner??? Grady Little's free... :der:

a return of bobby valentine is obviously my first choice, but i would be surprised if they could pry him out of japan at this point. after that my next choice would be lee mazzilli, who fortunately enough is already employed by SNL. wally bachman would be another option i'd consider... he got a bit of a raw deal with the diamondbacks and probably deserves a second shot. gary carter apparently wants the job but appears to be a bit of a douche... Jumping The Gun A Skosh: Gary Carter Wonders If He Should Let The Mets Know He Wants To Manage Them

i wouldn't be totaly against larry bowa... frankly if it takes putting jerry manuel in charge on an interim basis until the wilpon's can convince bobby v to come back from japan (with large sums of yen), i'm all for it.

managing team usa, actually.

i'd put him on the list but i doubt he'd be willing to take a major league job these days.

omar has good relationships with both valentine and robinson, who managed for omar in the past (omar was in the front office when bobby v was in texas and new york, and was the GM for los expos when robinson managed there).

I forgot about Team USA.

Something tells me that Gary Carter will not make a good ML manager but Backman might.

Yankees showing signs of life, back to .500. Not convinced they'll be contending for anything, but, still nice to wake the hell up and even have a late-inning, come from behind win for the 1st time this year.

Then again, 3 of the games came against the Mariners, who look just awful. They let up more runs than they scored last year, yet people thought they would contend this season. Laughable.

but remember... they're just a power hitter away from contention.

i can't really talk... i thought seattle would do well this year. i thought wrong.

I honestly did not, even with adding Bedard/Silva. I think most people thought Detroit would be great, I know I certainly did.

Biggest surprise thus far? Rays? Marlins? Athletics? Tigers?

see there's our difference... i believe i picked detroit to get the wild card but i'm not stunned in the least that they're struggling. they have no pitching. that's, um, that's usually a problem.

i think the marlins are the biggest surprise... the rays are surprising because of who they are, but when you look at their roster they're a pretty good team.

I guess I just figured their pitching would be better than this.

Rays hit 10 games over .500 yesterday for the first time in franchise history. Good lord.

somebody get me an ice cold bobeer

bottom of the 9th inning, 4 run lead for the marlins.

the rotating advertisements behind homeplate broke, the umpire is delaying the game because of it for some odd reason... willie comes out to find out what the issue is and proceeds to get booed lustly by the, oh, ten people left in the stadium, with a "fire willie" chant breaking out.

it's official... the mets have become the knicks.

Yeah I could see Mazilli, Backman, or Robinson. Not sure if Bobby V is willing to come back but he might be the right guy, he's the kind of guy who draws a lot of media attention to himself which would be good for guys like Beltran among others.

There's something about Carter that always bugged me, not sure what it is other than he seemed like a guy who liked himselt just a tad too much. Not saying he wouldn't be a good manager but I could see him being one of those ego-driven me managers like Kevin Kennedy was.
