I can't believe you are saying this.

I'm a huge huge huge U2-fan.

But when I listen to Ok Computer or The Bends.......I think those albums belong in my all-time top 10!!!!

1. Ok Computer - Radiohead
2. Achtung Baby - U2
3. Ten - Pearl Jam
4. Born In The USA - Bruce Springsteen
5. Joshua tree - U2
6. The Bends - Radiohead
7. The Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles
8. Blue Lines - Massive Attack
9. Nevermind - Nirvana
10. A Night At The opera - Queen

Sorry for this off topic intermezzo. You probably wasn't waiting dor that

Right....back to Radiohead....

I agree, OK Computer & The Bends are 2 of my favourite albums ever because they contain beautiful, uplifting, experimental songs that are quite U2 influenced (Radiohead have often cited U2 as one of their biggest influences). I think the problem for some people maybe that some songs on OK Computer are a bit 'listener unfriendly' - similar to the odd, tuneless, electronic ramblings on Kid A, Amnesiac & Hail To The Thief. Personally I like all of Radiohead's albums with The Bends, OK Computer & Kid A being my favourites.

....anyway....can you tell us how many copies HTDAAB has sold in Holland so far? (my guess would be 200-300k)

Fitz....at least 'Sometimes' only goes down 1 spot to #29 in New Zealand. I think it might re-enter the Mediatraffic top 10 this week.

Also I think 'the bomb' would have sold about 4500 in UK this week - that's about 1005700 overall.

UK sales

Hi Edge3,
I think the total sales in UK is 1057000, not 1005700 and I hope HTDAAB will be certified 4x Platinum in UK and 4x Platinum in Eurpe before the end of the summer.
Bye!

"The Joshua Tree voted the 2nd best album of all time (sandwiched between OK Computer & Nervermind)"

Ok Computer the best album of all time?!?!! LOL

Nothing better than a good laugh in the morning.

OK Computer is not the best album of all time, it's not even the best Radiohead album. Like others, I have tried and tried to like OK Computer. While I do like it, I do not love it. For me, Kid A is the pinnacle of Radiohead. It totally pulls me in where OK Computer does not.

BB has updated their Top 100 Singles & Top 100 Albums charts for Europe:

HTDAAB holds steady at #17

Sometimes surges ahead 19 positions to #57

What is your prediction for world chart?Htdaab will stay in top 20?I think it 'll stay at 18-19....:|

I'd say HTDAAB will rise to 14 or 15, due to decreases in sales for albums currently infront of it. though it depends on how many new entries there are.

Good result at Mediatraffic (fitz...you were pessimistic!). So, how many did 'the bomb' actually sell? Well, MT say that the #18 album, B'Z - The Circle, sold 80K (note - the #13 album, Zone E's The Cmplete A Side Singles, sold 97K). So, the minimum that 'the bomb' could have sold was 81K - much more than I thought. In fact this means that last week 'the bomb' must have also sold over 80K (let's say 85K) 'cos it decreased in sales from W.21 to W.22. So my current overall, conservative, sales estimates for 'the bomb' at MT are now :

either : 7224M + 85K (W.21) + 81K (W.22) = 7390M

or : 7224M + 93K (W.20) + 85K (W.21) + 81K (W.22) = 7483M

BTW - 'the bomb' in Canada : #25 (#22)

Oh, and that's good news that HTDAAB is still a monster in worldwide sales.

I MAKED A MISTAKE!!!!!!But i'm very very happy....

Only Gwen Stefani is in top 20 in world chart after 20 weeks....U2 is the best band in all the world yet...Who knows the positions in world chart of ATYCLB?Thanx!

Hi Tallarico - I agree....but you've forgotten about Green Day. American Idiot has now spent 30 weeks in top 20 (27 weeks in top 10).

Also - Here's my predictions for W.22 in UK : HTDAAB #69 (big drop  ) , Joshua Tree #47 (big re-entry  ), 'sometimes' #73 (just stays in top 75 :) )

oH,SORRY....a big mistake.....but for green day i think is a surprise...nobody thought that american idiot went so good and high in all the charts....for u2 is different...after 25 years they stay in the charts very well yet.....do you agree?

Yes, I agree. In fact, with the possible exception of The Beatles, there probably isn't another band/group that has sold as many albums as U2 have since 1980.

Yes, I were pessimistic. But so it is a very nice surprise, also the still high sales over 80k! Very good

I really wish to know if that's true...

Portugal: HTDAAB stays in 23#.

Chart: 1-1-1-1-3-4-5-9-13-13-13-13-14-12-12-9-14-20-19-23-23

Vertigo Run: 1-1-2-5-9-13-16-20-19-12-14-10-14-18-18-out-out-...

SYCMIOYO Run: 3-1-1-0-0-3-2-6

Sales: As i expected HTDAAB has not sold 70.000 in Portugal... It sold 130.000!!! It's 3x platinum!

Very good news from Portugal. The bomb has outsold ATYCLB, or? What is the platinum level in Portugal, 3x platinum = 130k?

Yes, HTDAAB has outsold ATYCLB.
ATYCLB was 2x platinum. So we can say that it sold aprox 100.000

Here in portugal platinum means sales of at least 40.000

HTDAAB is 3x platinum wich means it sold at least 120.000. I think it is pretty accurate if we consider 130.000

:)

So in how many countries has HTDAAB already outsold ATYCLB? and in which countries is it coming close to?

I have no clue. Maybe Popmartijn knows more? I can'find any informatiob, not even how many platinum copies...don't know why they don't wanna give info about album sales in the Netherlands.

Popmartijn, where are you when we need you?
