i would use ONE from ZooTV, by far, that song never sounded so good. Unless you are talking the special features from somewhere in Canada and then that is pretty good too.. lots of spiritual urgency.

But seriously, if you have to make a DVD to win over a fan, why bother? If they don't know/don't like u2 at this point, after 30 years of making great music, fuck em they can have lady gaa gaa gaa or justin berber or whatever the hell that is

^ Yeah I guess, I just used that as a hypothetical situation. I just like the idea of a 'Greatest Hits' DVD, jumping to and from amazing performances from their whole career within the framework of an actual concert setlist. Or maybe I'm just bored at work?!

In no particular order:

1. I Will Follow (Red Rocks)
2. New Year's Day (Red Rocks)
3. 40 (Red Rocks)
4. Sunday Bloody Sunday (Rattle and Hum)
5. With or Without You (Rattle and Hum)
6. WTSHNN (Rattle and Hum)
7. Running To Stand Still (ZooTV)
8. Love Is Blindness (ZooTV)
9. Mofo (Popmart)
10. HMTMKMKM (Popmart)
11. One (Popmart)
12. UTEOTW (Elevation Boston)
13. Stay (Elevation Boston)
14. Kite (Elevation Slane)

16. COBL (Vertigo Chicago)
17. The Fly (Vertigo Chicago)
18. Magnificent (360)

I think the ultimate video mix, for me, would have to include some studio tracks if I'm trying win people over. For me, there has never been a really good filmed version of "Bad" or "Pride" -- I liked those songs a lot more live on the 1984-85 (esp. '84) tour, and they've never sounded quite right since. (I don't think the R&H version of either song is good -- in fact, I think they're both weak.)

I guess there's a video for the live/studio "Bad" on Wide Awake in America, which is probably the best bet (is that really entirely live?). I'd stick with the "Pride" studio version, and also "All I Want Is You", which is okay live but never really takes off for me due to the lack of two guitars (well, Bono did play a bit in 89) and the big string ending. Great video for that one, too.

As far as live goes, I almost always prefer performances of recent songs to performances of old songs. In fact, when I go back to U2 DVDs from, say, the 2000s, I skip over most of the old songs. To me, they always sound better when they're fresh and new.
