Yep, today, we've got a live stream, courtesy of ramblin rose's phone and gorman's server.

To listen, open http://live.g0rman.com:8000 in a program that can play streams, such as iTunes or WinAmp. There's only 64 places so make sure you secure a spot. There may or may not be Radio Gorman pre-show; if there isn't, the stream will be silent.

Have fun!

Yay!

Is it a bad thing that these setlist parties are the thing to which I most look forward each day; that they are the highlight of my weeks? :nerd:

Listening to Pop for a while, hoping it'll send the band some boom cha vibes

I keep hoping someone will take the initiative to do some Boomchas if they are at the front. That will certainly send some hints :hyper:

I feel sad that I didn't take the initiative at the time.

Do you study all subjects up until you graduate in Australia?
:hmm:

Up until the 10th year of High School you essentially do all subjects (there are slight variations). For the final two years you can chose from about 200 subjects then only thing that is compulsary is English (and in some states Maths). Which is why the exam timetable runs for 1 month because there are just so many exams. :sigh:

What about UK? :hyper:

From Year 10 we start to have Electives.
At My school (atleast) You have to do English And Religion then the other 4 Subjects are up to you.

So This Year I've done : English, Religon, Further Maths, IT Processing And Management, IT Systems and Business Management

It sounds like you get far more 'liberal' choices than we do. With 200 choices (I don't know whether you were exaggerating or not, Tim Tam) i'm not surprised - it was the same when I was in the US.
Here you study everything until year 9, then you get to specialise slightly through years 10 and 11 (but have to study R.S, Maths, Sciences and English - in total you study about 9 subjects). When you get to year 12, you study just 4 subjects (there are usually about 17 choices), but to stand any chance of getting into a good uni, you have to do the corse subjects (like maths, english, politics etc) and then at year 13, you drop one and study the other three in more detail.

Well its not quite 200..(depending on which school you go to)
I dont remember, i haven't chosen subjects since 2003!

Why do you think I make them? My week needs highlights too. :nerd:

Fairly rigid system then. We seem to be a tad more liberal in most things down here though - I don't know wether that is good or bad.

There are I would guess around 200 choices. About 50 of which would be languages, and there are varying degrees or units of certian subjects (Standard English, Advanced English, Extension I, Extension II etc).

Oh of course. If you go to any kind of religious school (Catholic, Protestant, Buddhist, School of Satan) you have to do Religion.

Study Of Religion was the best subject ever.

(OK, so I had the world's most amazing teacher ...)

Hey every-one!

I'm on the stream.
And have secured myself a spot.

But I was just wondering, what'll happen if I put my computer on stand by?
Will I stay on or not?

:hmm:

I'm gonna test it right now.

It's a tad different in Queensland. Here - my school was one of the first to do this but I think it'll eventually be statewide - you study everything to grade nine, then it's split for the last three. English is compulsory, and my school made Maths compulsory but I used a loophole to drop it before the end.

I guess the main difference is that the subjects aren't broken down like that. English would be all of those electives, and Maths would probably be all of the electives too.

It can be less rigid - there are alot of post 16 options depending on what route you want to take in life and depending on your GCSE results(really, loads) - some are not open to you if you don't do well in the GCSEs. I would prefer to have taken a more liberal route, but it's not really practical with the unis i'm applying for.

SOR was utter shite. Apparently learning about Aborigional history constitues religion. I was appauled. It was my last exam too, I walked out with an hour to spare because I didn't care.

Best teacher I had was English. He was the most fantastic teacher & human being ever to grace this planet.
