    The Meaning of Life

Maybe it's the British sense of fair play. Several entertainers in the UK have been called out recently for tax avoidance including the comedian Jimmy Carr (wasn't he the one who first made the joke about Bono clapping at a concert?). He apologised publicly and said he would change his tax...

I suppose there's always an exception to the rule, Bono can't be nice to everyone! Damon comes across as a bit mouthy sometimes but I thought when U2 had to pull out of Glastonbury due to Bono's bad back and Damon's band Gorillaz stood in he said some nice things about U2/Bono and there was some...

Concert line up for the Aung San Suu Kyi concert in Dublin on 18 June. At the moment only Bono is listed amongst the perfomers (rather than U2) Electric Burma Also came across this lovely interview with Glen Hansard where he tells a few Bono stories Glen Hansard (Page 2) • Interviews •...

    2012's Misc Pictures

Bono popped up briefly on a programme last night about Damien Hirst's new Tate exhibition. Looks as if it was filmed on the same day as the Dierks Bentley piece as his clothes and hair are the same (colours are more muted). It's about the 7 minute mark on here Damien Hirst - 4oD - Channel 4 Bono...

I don't remember that one but seem to remember reading that Courtney was a big U2 fan when they first started out and blagged her way into a job working for them at Windmill Lane back in the early 80s so they must go back a long way Another closet Pleban is Catherine Zeta Jones Bono just blows...

GQ - 'Band of the year' scans

I bought the last 2 U2 covers when I was in Tescos earlier . Happy to post one on for its cost and postage. Send me a PM if you want it -first come first served! And thanks for all the new scans and videos, after a dry spell it's been a positive deluge  The video of Kylie teasing Bono...

Bono at Pearl Jam 20 Festival this weekend?

Hmm, well there's also a rumour going round that Bono will join Arcade Fire on stage tonight at the Electric Picnic Festival near Dublin. Edge was spotted there yesterday watching Gavin Friday perform.

I've no idea what Like a Boss means :reject: Is it a compliment or should I take offence? :shifty: And since this is a photo thread I came across this James Bondesque pic recently which tickled me. The woman in orange is Wendi Murdoch, sorry couldn't find a version less blurry

I can't believe you've got your knickers in such a twist over this but for the record the full story was published in several newspapers at the time :: Crusading rocker Bono put his six-nation Aids campaign in jeopardy when he was halted at the airport in Lesotho, South Africa because of his...

U2 after Glastonbury thoughts and chats

The figures I've seen say that there's been a 747% increase in sales rather than 247%. I've got friends at Glastonbury at the moment who said U2's set was amazing. They're luke warm fans at best, (liked a few songs if that but that's all) never seen them in concert before and said they were...

Great that Bono's just won an award for this Other big-name winners at the Sony awards included Sir David Attenborough, named speech broadcaster of the year, and Bono, for BBC Radio 4's Elvis By Bono, in which the U2 frontman read a self-penned poem about Elvis Presley set to archive clips and...

    Question for the Ladies

:D I had a friend at work who years ago in the early 80s was in a pub in London and sat nearby a group of Irish men. She didn't recognise any of them but one in particular stood out, not so much because of his looks, (her words not mine:D) but because he had a natural charisma which just...

    UK Dates next Summer?

I'd forgotten all about that concert but wasn't that also the one where loads of fans got crushed? I was living not that far from Liverpool at the time and vaguely remember a load of fuss in the papers about it. It was around the time of the Hillsborough tragedy as well. I don't think Aintree...

    UK Dates next Summer?

Who knows, perhaps they did originally have plans to arrange something in the UK to fit in with the European dates but it fell into the too difficult category which hmm just maybe could be an excuse as to why they took ages to announce they wouldn’t be playing in the UK, other than Glasto. If...

    UK Dates next Summer?

I don't think there's any doubt that U2 could have sold out a couple of stadiums in the UK next year or at least sold more than enough seats to make a decent profit. It's more likely that they just couldn't find suitable dates in the schedule. It must be a logistical nightmare trying to fit in...

Ian McCulloch slags off U2 and their fans..

Neil McCormick's summed it up nicely in his twitter posts:- For you Ian, the war is over. & you lost. 'Ian McCulloch: U2 are for teenagers' I loved Echo & The Bunnymen as much as I ever loved a band. But now they're bedraggled session men reheating old glories to pay mortgages @U2log...

    UK Dates next Summer?

True but not if they didn't have kids! Most people who saw the ZOO TV shows (myself included), were probably teens & 20s so they didn't then have school age kids. Those fans who've stayed with U2 from early on are now in their 30s and 40s hence more likely to have a family.

    UK Dates next Summer?

Don't forget also that the UK dates this year were bang in the middle of the school summer holidays which wasn't the case with the Vertigo tour. They probably lost at least 10% of their audience as a result. I know loads of people with school age kids who had already booked their summer hols by...

I was having a browse through that website and found this great quote from Rebecca the business lady on Chris Evan's show "Little did I know I would end up presenting in a bikini in a hot-tub or trying to conduct an interview while being bitten on the arm by Bono". Naughty Bono indeed :wink...

    The best U2 interview ever?

Thanks zooropop40 for posting those, I'd forgotten The Grand Madness interviews, great stuff. I dunno, I must have mellowed in old age but I still like Chris Evans. The interview they did with him on his show before the London roof top gig in March was one of their best this year, really loose...
